Miller to pair with Marshall

I prefer Blair at Lock and Marshall at 5/8\. We have tried for 6 years to find Benji a Halfback who can control a game, so if that means playing Braith at 7 I'd accept it. Ironically, he will bring some similarity to the 7 jumper that Sheens tried to do with John Morris, but Braith has a far higher skill set and flair… **Previous history shows us if we put a kid between Robbie & Marshall, they simply have no choice but to be a link**. Braith has the experience to be more/different.

Miller could be best suited to come off the bench, but if you had to choose between Miller or Sironen for the bench, I'd go with Sirro.

I beg to differ. While it took Lui half a year to a year to find his feet, he was becoming just as important to our side as Benji and Robbie, and was by no means "just a link".

I don't understand how everyone is saying that Tedesco is the man for fullback! He got injured in the first game, I am sure that he has talent and is possibly the best option we have but I would like to see him play a few games in first grade before I make up my mind. It is no secret that I quite like Tim Moltzen but I am the first to admit that he didn't set the world on fire last year and I think that if you have a couple of people trying out for the same position then that is a great thing for the Tigers. I am happy with Tedesco getting the fullback job if he deserves to have it.

I Totally agree! Tedesco has only really played half of a proper game in first grade! Dont get me wrong, Im really looking forward to seeing what he has to offer. Im hoping he can be the answer to the full back problem. But to put him up so high on the pedestal already, like so many people have, i think is a little pre-mature!
Lets hope he is a gun, but lets not jump the gun…....

As For Moltz, i think he is a really good football player! But if Teddy turns out to be the man for the job, i just dont know where else Tim will fit. He will have to be dropped! I like Tim, But i like the team more! So whats best for the team is what will make me happy! About a month ago, i was feeling worried for this up coming season, but now, im really Looking forward it! Bring on 2013....

Fullback is one of the most important positions in the modern day NRL. You will get no where without a very good fullback. For mine Moltzen has never shown that he is good enough to a top fullback in the NRL.

I never thought Moltzen was good. He was a worse half than Lui and we whould have been better off still having Hodgson than play Moltzen at fullback.

I have good hopes for Teddy. He has a lot of natural talent, I hope he is fully recovered and keeps developing.

As for Moltzen, I can't see him playing NRL this year unless there is a lot of injuries.

I think Teddy and a few others a better fullbacks (especially Nofo). I think Marshall, Sironen, Brooks, Anasta, Miller and Mosses are or soon will be better options in the halves. We should really try to ofload Moltzen ASAP.

The whole Moltzen things is pretty funny, 2011 before doing his knee people loved him and were willing to rush him back into the top grade for the final series, 2012 rolls around and except for a couple of games he struggled, bearing in mind he was coming off a knee reco job. Durring 2012 he was probably Benji's most prominent target as the rest of the backline looked slow with the exception of Koro late in the season . Now he is the new Fitzy on the forum.

Iam not defending him and I would struggle to find a starting spot for him in 2013 if Teddy come back strong, but he isnt the total dud people make him out to be and when his confidence is up he can be a handy player. Iam sure with injuries we will see lots of Tim in the top grade

Pretty sensible assessment Super. I used to think (when he was playing for Balmain) that I liked Moltz, and he has done some impressive things in firsts. Unfortunately they are few and far between and there has been a lot of rubbish in between.

And in relation to Miller, I do not think he will play half for much of the season. Despite the obvious issues with Anasta playing there, this is what I expect will eventually happen.

Im not so sure

“Tim Sheens was talking about me playing 7\. I’m not a 7\. He had a role for me in 7\. It wasn’t the average 7\. I’m happy to play wherever Mick Potter feels is the best fit for the team.”

Yeh I know that - my reference to issues with it. But I think it will happen because I haven't seen enough in Miller to believe he can play first grade right through the next season - and I frankly dont see where else Anasta fits into the team. Fulton is the first backrower picked in my opinion and I dont think you can have two lightweight backrowers in the modern game.

The thing with Moltzen is he seems to only need Marshall…..hes not a team player.
Take Benji out and he has no stats, no game, no mate, no nothing
Benji's his labrador & cane

We all know contracts these days aren't worth the paper they're written on. Moltzen was re-signed under the Sheens era, and it looks as though the boys club is history under Potter. If Tedesco and Miller are given cracks at the 1 and 7 jerseys and they succeed, I see no reason why the club would hold on to Moltzen for three years

I tend to disagree. If history shows us anything, it is when Marshall has a GENUINE halfback next to him we go very deep into the back end of the season. I know Potter is new to the club, but i hope we have far more stability throughout next year than the shuffling of positions we had to put up with this year.

The only time Benji has had a 'proper halfback' was when he played with Scott Prince.

Robert Lui wasnt a Halfback and he rarely played 'with' Benji. When Lui was playing in the 7, he was a modern day 7 and provided an alternative. I was a big fan of Robert Lui and what he provided, but far too many times he was only allowed to play the 'link' role.

I'm looking for a option at 7 who will put his hand up and say "No, where going this way"… When you look at Miller and Anasta, I know who will have the balls to over-rule Robbie and Marshall!

2011 and 2010 Benji's Best years….he had a proper halfback playing with him

Benji is a show pony, full stop. Every year I hear the same thing from him, that he has more to learn and that he's taking his game to a new level. When's he going to wake up, if he hasn't learned by now, which he hasn't ( poor decision making ), he'll never learn. Robert Lui, was a quality half, that's why in 2010/2011 we played finals football. He wasn't a link he was a play maker, and a strong character to demand the ball, chance his arm and not be intimidated by Marshall. Marshall is useless in rep games as well, it doesn't matter who his halfback is, he doesn't have it. Yeah he USED to be allusive and a have a mean step, but I think it's long gone now. I'm sick of all his excuses, he gets paid to produce, but there's no value for money. When we do find and settle on our new halfback, he'll be carrying the side, Benji will only be a passenger, like always. So what I'm saying is, with a proper halfback, our whole team plays better. Surprise, surprise.

Bit of a setback for James Tedesco

He has torn his meniscus in his left knee and will probably be off the training track for a month after getting an arthroscope

The positive being at least we know the ACL is holding strong

Good luck with the rehab ,stay strong and positive

should have started a new thread happy since its a new morning. sunday sensationalism. not good news on teddy. time is on his side. and for gnr the november rain is coming.

Miller can run a team,is a kick option and has a great combination with Koro.
Don't dismiss Kurtis Rowe for fullback - is a special player but has a few mistakes in him

He is a very good player (Rowe) but I think he's a fair bit off first grade. One to keep an eye on though.

as tiger watto said in another thread but dont quote me on it along the lines of miller over ruling marshall - in wwe terminolgy hell no. Anasta is a different story. Can Potter isolate this conundrum & remedy it. Can Marshall & Farah take a back seat when Miller sees the chance. Stardom and humblesome - do they go hand in hand.

They don't have a choice If Miller is the 7 he has the call

Whether he is prepared to take over is another matter

Is Miller a man or a mouse?
\
\
_Posted using RoarFEED 2012_

If Miller is a mouse he won't be in 1st grade for long. 1st grade halbacks, particulaly in 1st grade, need to be confident and cheeky.

Miller has an ego as big as the great outdoors, and if given the 'go ahead' by the coach to call the plays, will be more than up to it. He's a different sort of character to Lui who was far more introverted and not ready to override Robbie and Benji.
