Mitch Brown

Read in RLW today that Brown may seek release after being overlooked for the game against the Warriors. Also Panthers interested in trying to get Daniella back.

If this is true then I can't say I blame him. Brown didn't put a foot wrong for us in the games he did get to play this year, yet he was always the one left out once injured players returned. He was not given first (or even 2nd) crack at fullback this year, despite being excellent in that position at the back end of 2010 and he even played second fiddle to new boy Utai for the vacant wing and centre spots. There is no reason for him to believe it will be any different next year, especially with the acquisition of Reddy, Humble and Grant. He deserves the opportunity to grow and excel in a regular first grade position, somewhere. I would hate to see him go, but if he is not going to get that opportunity at WT, then I wouldn't begrudge him if he moved on.

I feel sorry for Mitch Brown, who I think is a very good club man. Whenever he was chosen to play NRL, he always gave 100% effort and played well in all positions. He was a very good fullback for us at the end of 2010 and I cannot believe he was over-looked on many occasions this season.
If he was to seek a release and moved on, I could only wish him well, because I think he was under-rated and under-used this season.

I'm a big fan of Brown dog. I firmly believe that in a team with a lot of flair you need a good mix of reliable and thought he brought that in spades.

I'm part of the Brown for full back fan club. If he doesn't get a good shot at the gig in the trials i wouldn't mind hearing from sheens why and what brown needs to work on.

I really hope he stays. He is a talent. He is the only Tiger player I really feel confident with when a bomb is put up. I think he should get first shot at fullback next year.

There has to be more to this…

Yeah there must be, to me Mitch seems the kind of player Sheens normally likes - level headed and safe.

I think it would be really dissapointing if we let him go.

I know we have had a thread on Mitch Brown before and he has said to certain members of this forum he will be here next year but what do you expect him to say. We have so many outside backs now with Lote, Beau, Ayshford, Lawrence, Utai, Grant, Reddy, Humble, Daniella and Brown. Plus the kids in NYC it seems some player or players wont be with us. Brown would be my first choice at fullback in 2012 but maybe Sheens sees this differently.

Maybe Brown and Daniela to Penrith with a trade for a halfback especially with Georgallis coming aboard probably Who knows??

I spoke to him a few nights after the Dragons final win on a night out, and he confirmed he was signed for next year. Apparently it happened mid 2011 and it didn't make the papers.

Whilst I would prefer to see him stay, he must be getting sick of not being given a go, so it wouldn't surprise me if he wants out.

I'll be very disappointed if he goes, I'd loved watching him play.
He runs hard from dummy half and as mentioned, is always safe.
He should be starting fullback but it's whatever, I'd be leaving too if I was getting dogged as much as him.

Such is what happens when you let obvious talent waste on the sideline.

Being hooked for Utai in the Warriors game would have done it for me.

I am a big Mitch Brown fan and he would be mine first choice full back for 2012.

If he is not in Sheens plans then let him go along with Daniella.

Both players are NRL quality.

These two blokes are very good 1st graders, Brown must be our no1 next year & Daniella is a very good back up as well.

With Brown, he is one of those players that does everything pretty well, but nothing outstanding, you need them at your club, but right now there is no spot available for him in our side. If another club feels they need him in their 17, id happily let him go, his has provided good service for us, and if he is able to get a gig where he will get more opportunity, the club would be doing him a favour in letting him go, which i think would be a nice gesture.
With the likes of Tedessco, Koribete and Noaflumo coming through (2013 is prob when we will see them), the addition of Reddy and Grant to the squad, I think he is well covered if he leaves
