Mitch Brown

With Brown, he is one of those players that does everything pretty well, but nothing outstanding, you need them at your club, but right now there is no spot available for him in our side. If another club feels they need him in their 17, id happily let him go, his has provided good service for us, and if he is able to get a gig where he will get more opportunity, the club would be doing him a favour in letting him go, which i think would be a nice gesture.
With the likes of Tedessco, Koribete and Noaflumo coming through (2013 is prob when we will see them), the addition of Reddy and Grant to the squad, I think he is well covered if he leaves

Its the way he is utilized -

Give him some extra creative licence ala Timmy Moltzen, and give him 80 minutes a game, and I think Brown will shine. He'll also pass the ball on the final play.

Brown is still only young himself - only 23/24 from memory.

People keep mentioning Grant. Why? Has never played league in his life, will take time to adjust and will be lucky to see FG next season.

Don't be so sure about that,he could be started on the wing earlier than you think, depending how he goes he may end up at 1.

If Mitch brown played against the warriors instead of lote we would of won hands down cause Mitch and beau are the only tigers I trust under the high ball.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Grant pops up on the wing if Lote doesn't get back in to form during next year.

Yeah I reckon Grant will be in the mix, perhaps not in round one but after 6 or so state cup games. And I think he will play first grade in the trials.

He's only playing wing, really it's not that different between league and union.

Some people would have you thinking he's a converted lawn bowls champion or something

:roll Gold!

Word is there a few Sydney clubs after his signature. Wouldn't blame him if he left, he's been very unlucky not to the make the squad more regularly.

Brown's a fine player in his own right, but it wouldn't be a sporting-odds mover if Brown left.

He's safe, yes, and does nothing 'wrong'.

That said, the fullback position now asks for more than 'safe', you need to be the extra attacking weapon, and occasional ball player & play maker.

Brown is none of those.

He's a winger or centre in 1st grade, or a fullback on a poor team.

And for those calling him a loyal clubman- you must have missed the bit where he left the club that developed his talent as a junior to come play for the Tigers. He puts in, there's no doubting that, but that makes him professional, not loyal.

If he stays- great. If not, I'll sleep easy.

COuld not agree more, I feel exactly as you do

He re-signed mid year!! considering the fact that he was barely getting a run… I'd call that Loyal. To clarify his position... When he signed with us from Sharks.... They had Covell, Ferguson, Gardiner... All getting a look in front of him, Collis was coming in.. Pomeroy, Stapleton, Williams, Kelly and Wright were there abouts... And we didn't have a fixed FB. Do the Math!! It wasn't his lack of loyalty... It was his lack of future!!
Some of the superstar attributes of a first grade FB are not yet witnessed from Brown I agree.... But I also agree that he has not been given a fair go at any fixed position... Or time to prosper in said position!! If he was to get a full season at FB, Who knows what he is capable of?? He was capable enough to take us within a point of a GF last year, Or capable to take try saving Bombs and make try saving tackles on Speedsters like Kevin Gordon... And I highly doubt anyone could prove me wrong... But if Brown played in Liu of Lote OR Chrissy last week.... I'd be driving to Melbourne right now!! Can't argue with that...

And he wouldn't have been caught out of position constantly, And he wouldn't have thown balls over sidelines, And he would 've turned a half break into a try instead of looking to offload with 1 man to beat. Both Lote and Chris were VERY underdone last week… But nothing can take it back now :'(

I totally agree with the above.

Well said from me too. Exactly as it is.

Geez mate- going to disagree about 'loyalty' here- he left the club that developed him into a 1st grade quality player where he was in a battle for a regular position to join.....a club that didn't develop him where he was in a battle to secure a regular 1st grade position..

It's not like he left the Sharks for a guarenteed starting role.

That's not loyalty mate- that's looking after himself first.

Don't really get your point… But I said his loyalty to the WT is evident as he re-signed at the start of the year with us even though he wasn't getting a regular start.. And that was BEFORE Moltzens news of departure!! Which wouldn't maker getting a start any easier... Where I'm from... We call that Loyal!!
He is a Sharks Junior and left them for a "Chance" at a FB start here (We didn't have a recognised FB), I also stated that (Read OP)... He was behind a long list of Up and Comers at CS as well as some Ring ins and Mainstays, Can't be-Grudge him for having a red hot crack at improving his chances.
I'll stand by my Claim that if he was in the team for Lote or Chrissy... (Both were well underdone), We win that game!! And as to people assuming he is NOT a superstar FB, Well we may or may not ever know!! I see some people who were calling for Moltz's head at the start of the year, Now wish he was staying.... That is ALL due to time to adjust to a permanent position... And NOT being given the boot, everytime someone is half ready to come back into said position (as Brown has)
Fact is Brown showed more form toward the end of the year than Utai, Lote, And Chris (Not having a shot at any of these boys... Injuries etc) combined... But was the first to be punted!!

I dont blame him for leaving the sharks, but I dont think that signing for us is him showing loyalty either, it is not like he was knocking back big cash or a guranteed spot elsewhere, is happy where he is, anywhere else he went he'd be in a similar position, so why change, doesn't make him loyal, makes him human.

If he had a guranteed spot or twice the cash at another club, he prob would have jumped it, as it stands he is a capable player at the edge of your squad, important to success of a club to have blokes like him, but if they go, well they go.

It is easy to assume he is not a superstar at fullback, if he had the raw skills to be an outstanding NRL fullback he would have got a chance to show it.

I like Brown, but i feel people have romanticised Brown's rock solid finish to 2010 into more than it is.
