Mitch Brown

Some people on here have massive raps on Brown, will develop into a solid 1st grade player in 3-5 years but at the moment the Tigers have better options. IMO he doesn't have the passing game to be a successful fullback under Coach Sheens

if moltz plays fullback for us and brown plays fullback for st george, saints have the better deal.. the only way this is good for us is if moltzen plays half…

its amazing how many people under estimate brown... he deserves way more credit... he will one day show everyone just how good he is (when he finally gets a consistent crack at first grade).

Moltz is a cut above Brown imo!!

Brown has never played as poorly at fullback as Moltzen did for 90 per cent of last season.

Has Brown ever had to come back in first grade from a total knee reconstruction?

In my opinion, Brown's best at fullback hasn't been as good as Moltzen's best at fullback.

I would argue that there is a link between Moltzen's poor early season form and the time it has taken him to fully recover his form, fitness and confidence after his surgery (remember Andrew Johns has said it took 18 months to fully recover from his knee reconstruction).

We saw some terrible football from Moltzen for much of the season. But we also saw glimpses of the player he could be when fully fit and in form. And I think that ceiling is higher, potentially much higher, than Mitch Brown's.

I agree, but I think too much value is put on by us about those sparks of brilliance. Moltz is capable of that, Brown isn't. But I can tell you, if there is a ball kicked high into the in-goal, I know who I would prefer to be there.

You can say on the flip-side, Browns worst has been no where near Moltz worst game.

For me, fullback is about reliability and consistency.

Has Brown ever been persisted in a position when he was playing absolutely rubbish?

Has Brown been given as many opportunities as Moltzen to prove himself?

Brown has been on the outter with us for some time and I have no idea why…

But Brown not playing much at fullback works against him too, how do we know he will consistently be solid in future? Ok he was great at the end of 2010, but so too was Moltzen at the end of 2011\. Remember Beaut at fullback? he was considered solid until he dropped that bomb vs the Roosters at Campbelltown.

Next year is next year, we got to decide who will be best for the team at the time, factoring in their capacity to improve at both general fullback play and the combinations they form with teammates. I think Moltzen will be able to add more value to the team than Brown.

One line in that article sums up the ability gulf between the 2 players

"no one has been knocking down the door"

no one has ever knocked on his door ever, his contract is very minimal, an no one thinks they need him.

St George and the tigers are both prepared to fight hard and pay him a significant amount.

The only place I here blokes bag Moltz is here, it is also the only place where I here blokes wrap both Lui and Brown.

So with the news that moltz is in and no deal for brown to go to the dragons. With lote, beau, reddy, ashford and Lawrence's positions all but cemented, where does this put good old brown to play. Surely not just the 5 mins a game he got in 2012?? Surely a move to Bathurst st pats would be a better career option!
