Mitch Rein

Farah has said he lost earnings as the money could have been invested in the property market.

That's exactly right, but it doesn't suit the anti Farah brigade to see that , they deal mostly in negative rumours not facts.

In the end he choose to stay

No one stuck a gun to his head

And he shouldn't complain , he wouldn't be ranked in the Top 50 players based on NRL form but is collecting a Top 10 salary

I can see Rein as a solid 'hold over' player that will give Cherrington time to develop into the starting role, without forcing another young player into the starting line-up.

Rein also comes at half the cost of Farah, helps move Farah on (for whatever reason) & provides the club with what I'd consider a 'hard working' professional from everything I see & hear about him.

Interesting sidenote- Adam Clydesdale from Newcastle has been told he is 'free to explore other options'. 2 things- this could open the door for Farah, and why isn't the Newcastle community up in arms & storming the Knights offices in untempered fury over the release of a contracted player????

Adam who ???….That's why.

So you are saying that if Taylor was pushing, say… Simona out of the club, or Lovett- that we as fans would be ok with it because they are not as high profile?

Kind of flies in the face of the 'loyalty to player' thing some people want to use...

Robbie is our Captain and club legent. Adam is a young up and coming player. There's no comparison.
And if JT was to push Lovett out of the club, i would be cheering it.

Farah is not your 'average' player - and does not deserved to be treated as 'average'.
He has been at the club for almost as long as they have existed , is a club junior, has played more games than anyone else, is the club captain, is a life member and is a current rep player.
That's why people are up in arms - not so much that he might have to move on , but the way it's been orchestrated.
Comparing his to the Clydesdale situation is ridiculous.
Clydesdale v Thoroughbred. (No offence to Adam, who is only 22)

Very well said CK. :sign:

Your hands are far from clean either. Much like anyone else has nothing of value to say about JT or the club either, it's all speculation and innuendo. If you back Farah, it's a carte blanche to sling mud without any need to back up your opinions with any facts. I've made my feelings on this well known. Yes, it's a shame that he won't finish a one club player, yes he signed a contract, but he will be paid out and Rugby League is a business now.

The club are taking the steps they feel necessary to take the club forward and Farah for whatever reason is not a part of their plans. I bet a dollar to a dime that our board are far more qualified than any of us to make the decisions that they have. After years of crying out for some tough decisions to be made, the first one that is made the toys are chucked out of the cot and some are threatening to walk.

I support the Farah decision, but I don't really support JT as he doesn't inspire me as coach. Anything related to this Farah mess has basically created a team Farah and team JT camp from which no one can have a sensible discussion at all. I support the decision this club has made because I always support the club first and foremost. For mine this decision is win-win because there will only be two outcomes next year:

1\. The team will perform well, and the club will have been vindicated in moving Farah on;
2\. The team will perform awfully, and JT will likely get the axe, but we're no worse off than having him here eating up 900K.

Continue to pigeon-hole anyone who doesn't subscribe to your point of view, I don't care for factional fighting. The fact of the matter is that we've had three coaches in the last four years for dismal results. Changing coaches isn't working, the club have decided to start somewhere else this time. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. It's Farah this year, and if acceptable results don't ensue next year, it will be JT.

That's exactly rightHappy.
"No one held a gun at his head,"
there's no doubt that no ones going to do what he did , for any reason other her than to help the club with payments.
That doesn't change the fact , that doing that was always going to cost him money( interest , etc) and has.
Where he is ranked has nothing to do with Any of this.
No one held a gun at the CEO , Coach and Board , that okayed the contract either.
They wanted him here till 2017
Farah is right in saying that he won't do anything now , unless it's in his best interest , and is completely right to say and do that.
His manager is reported to have offered a compromise which would have been better for all concerned. But
our Faux coach reportedly spat the Dummy.
Farah is completely within his rights in digging his heels in and staying if he wishes.
He hasn't asked to break his contract.
One things almost certain . Unless there is a biblical sized miracle next season, No one will ever be stupid enough to offer Taylor a head Coach job again

I agree with this. Robbie hasn't been performing and is I think massively overpaid for what he offers us at this point in time.

The whole situation though should have been handled better. Just tap him on his shoulder at the end of his contract.

True Steve , but name one club who hasn't had to physically push a waning superstar out the door early

I highly dispute not being in the top 50, He did captain his state this year.

I think Rein is a very good player, he is not however a star as yet, but he has upside.

Whoever said Rein will replace Lestrange is well off the mark, he wont be going to play 20 minutes a games with the saints.

Funnily enough, Im led to believe that McGreggor had issues at times ast year with Rein not following his instructions/game plan .

Heard a rumour last week that Newcastle is very interested in seeing Farah usher in generation next up there. Like us, they have a heap of talented kids in the squad and about to join the club.

Time will tell.

Captaining his state doesn't mean he played well for WT's and any Gumby can captain NSW to another series loss

Secondly Farah has already knocked Brown and Newcastle back as he doesn't want to leave Sydney

Ah, he's talking about speculative earnings he was never owed.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Speculative is right. He may have invested it and lost money.

Broncos screwed a lot up royally Lewis ,Miles ,Gillmeister etc

Its not like it happens all the time though does it. It shows how poorly this situation has been handled.

I may be wrong but I believe that Lewis was off contract at the time, the Broncos never tried to shaft him they just didn't offer him a new contract, same thing with the other two.
A completely different situation.
If I'm wrong about that, I apologise in advance.
But I believe that info is correct.

You are partly right…..

"At the end of the 1990 season, due to salary cap restrictions, Lewis was not made a large enough offer to keep him at the Broncos, with Bennett citing the need to retain younger talent".
