I think it gets handled a lot better all the time. I can't think of many situations that have been handled worse.

Broncos screwed a lot up royally Lewis ,Miles ,Gillmeister etc

I may be wrong but I believe that Lewis was off contract at the time, the Broncos never tried to shaft him they just didn't offer him a new contract, same thing with the other two.
A completely different situation.
If I'm wrong about that, I apologise in advance.
But I believe that info is correct.

You are partly right…..

"At the end of the 1990 season, due to salary cap restrictions, Lewis was not made a large enough offer to keep him at the Broncos, with Bennett citing the need to retain younger talent".

Thanks , that's what I thought, he simply wasn't offered a new contract, as I said , a completely different situation than the one with Farak.
I believe that Miles was similar..

The Broncos won a couple of premierships not long after that. They also had an all star team even without Wally.

And if you also remember they took the captaincy off him , moved him to lock and offered him a third of what he was earning in 1990 for 1991

But as I said , they held meeting with players to discuss who would be the next captain , held open meetings with all the players while Wally wasn't their discussing his issues as club captain , then held meeting with Wally at the meetings that almost ended up in blood baths

Lewis and Tony Currie hate each other with a passion and Tony Currie bagged Lewis out to a sponsor while under the influence which got back to Lewis

Lewis brought this up at the meeting and Currie didn't deny it and they had to be separated

So as I said I think the WT's are handling it slightly better

I understand what you're saying, , and we don't have the problems involving the players. But here we've got a board and coach wanting to renege on a deal that was running for another two years. I'd say that was fairly different.

Lewis didn't have a leg to stand on. Farah does

Taylor and the Board seem to think that they are on safe legal ground trying to force Farah out by issuing a rather dumb ultimatum to him that he'll be playing NSW Cup if he elects to stay on for the last 2 years of his current deal. Seems to me that whilst it's ok to drop a player for lack of form, it's a very different thing to try and force a player to give up his contractual rights (to stay on and play at the top level if he wants to and if his form warrants selection) by threatening him with demotion irrespective of form! I think that may well constitute a breach of contract. This whole thing has been mishandled appallingly

A coach can drop a player for whatever reason they want. As long as they pay farah then I'm pretty sure we're legally fine…

Doesn't mean it's been handled well, but we've done nothing wrong.

No one is reneging on the deal. The club has stated that Farah will be paid for another 2 years, but he is free to negotiate a deal elsewhere. They have told Farah and his manager, that If he stays he probably won't be in the coach's plans for next year in the top grade.
That's not reneging on the contractual obligations that the club has. It's a change of direction that the new coach wants to take the team in (for better or worse).

Pretty sure you can demote people, as long as you maintain their remuneration.

The only way anyone is forcing him to give up his contractual rights is if he had it written into his contract that he can never be dropped. This is old news that was covered 2 or 3 weeks ago. If there were grounds for legal action there probably would be legal action, but there isn't so there's not.

While I doubt there would be anything in his contract that states he cant be dropped, a Breach of Contract is a pretty simple process that doesnt really help Farah.

I'll intentionally breach contracts on a regular basis to force a situation that I want to change. The only real option Farah has in a BOC situation is to suck it up or walk away.

Personally, the moment Farah released the information about playing reggies, he lost any chance of taking legal action.
