Moltzen-Half Back or Fullback implications for others

Both Miller and Tedesco are only contracted for 2012\. Neither will be short of offers from rival clubs.

I wonder what both these kids are thinking now we have resigned Moltzen probably for life.

Very ,very good point Black and White Are we sure that Moltzen will be signed long term though

Would be a shame to lose Tedesco I can't see Sheens playing Moltzen at half back

The tigers are in an interesting position where they can potentially sign Moltzen long term…. except they won't have to put him on big bucks.

Several other teams have come out and said his name is mud, and they wouldn't sign him for free now.

Might lower his market value considerably.

I guess it all really depends on his development at fullback? As much as I am a fan of Brown, I'd be inclined to give Moltzen the #1 jersey and give him half a season to work into it. If he plays at least two thirds of the season like he did against the finals game against St George, I will be happy to keep him there.

Miller should be given a shot if Lui gets his marching orders. I reckon he'll find some consistency within 12 weeks at the top flight. He's cocky and won't be afraid to try to stamp his authority amongst the other two egos.

I reckon the Tigers will fight hard to keep Tedesco. Again, Moltzen is only contracted for 2012 and I don't buy that he will be re-signed for at least 2013-2014 at this stage. Tedesco will be training with the fulltime squad this summer, and to give an 17/18 year old that opportunity only to give him the flick in 12 months time does not make good business sense IMO unless they had future plans for him. One only has to look at how quickly he adapted to the Toyota Cup from SG Ball to see that he's got natural talent at fullback, far moreso than Moltzen.

Well that's what happened to Jake Mullaney…

I really hope we see Tedesco given an opportunity. And not half opportunities. Stick with him.

A key influencing factor in this scenario is what ends up happening with Lui. If he stays at half and Moltz stays at fullback then Miller and Tedesco will have more time to develop unless poor form or injury comes into play.

I wouldnt mind seeing Lawrence given the number 1 in the trials to see how he goes, at least he will attack the high ball. If it doesnt work out come round 1, he is still the best centre at the club.

I personally think this is the best option also
Lawrence is probably one of the smartest players on the field and off it and the more he gets his hand on the ball the more likely we are to score
lawrence has a great runnning game(great footwork, great lines, strong fend) also is developing as a ball player and is a great defender(fantastic one on one defended too-belted moi moi in the test)
can you imagine lawrences 105kg frame sprinting the ball back as fast as he can??????????

I know everyone says that rowdy is one of the best centres and not to move him because of his combination but reddy could fit right in comfortably to fill rowdys entre spot

Don't expect to see Lawrence at fullback anytime soon, and don't expect to see him tipping the scales at 105kg either, he'll lose too much pace and won't be playing in the backs if he puts on 9kg.

Willow I was just about to jump up and down about Lawrence being 96kg But it is true
IMO he is the biggest player at 96kg I have seen

I was watching a Lawrence highlights video on YouTube (I'm pretty sure it was Bonstonkers) the other day - he is awesome in broken play.

While I'm not on the bandwagon to move one of the games best centres into a new position a strong argument can certainly be made that he would be awesome at the back.

Back on topic, I wonder if we will have any hints from the club regarding Moltzen in 2012 (obviously once a decision is made on Lui), teh more I think about it the more I feel he will be wearing the seven (and as others have said0 Brown or Reddy in the one - watch out also for John Grant getting a crack at fullback I reckon.

I think Lawrence will be a sensation in FB and what helmesy says about him in broken play is spot on. Lawrence and Benji are the key guys that can make something from a broken line.

BUT, when considering Tedesco's future and him coming into the squad. I think the best way will be to keep the FB position 'available' and I see that by putting Moltzen there. For my mind, we don't want to have someone there who may become irreplaceable (i.e. Lawrence/Benji) when Tedessco gets to grade. I don't think Moltz will ever be a superstar fullback.

I feel Moltzen has done a lot of harm to himself, his name will be mud with other clubs for his backdown with the Dragons. There are better guys than Tim in the grades at the tigers so if by some chance he is resigned it wont be 250 for three years far less, and if not resigned where to then park footballthis is a buisness tim and if you do not shape up next season you will be out the door so fast you would not have time to say gee should have gone to the dragons. Your mate is set like a jelly your not, mate i am not putting you down i hope you make it jut concerned maybe you have had bad advice good luck.

Yeah I pretty much agree - Tim now has a heap of pressure on him to perform I feel.

In an industry where there are a limited number of other potential employers (15 NRL clubs) he has pretty much sullied his name.

I'm not saying that his future is under a cloud as I think we saw in late 2011 that he has some talent but gee if he is forced out of the Tigers he may have some trouble getting a run somewhere else.

His eggs are all in the Tigers basket I think.

If Moltzen is our HB next season we are in trouble.

What do you think he lacks for the position hybrid-tiger?

I'm not convinced one way or another but those who want him in the 7 will say we have a good record with him there.

terry hill went through all this - he survived - heck, he even played origin and for Australia. Lets move on people, and keep our fingers crossed that timmy is the real deal.
