MOLTZEN INJURED

A month seems drastic.

What if we're 0/2 or 0/3 and he's killing it in reggies?

Day by day proposition…lets see how things pan out

What if we're 0/2 or 0/3 and Lui is the star performer every week? You couldn't punt him then.

I do agree though, it must be taken one day at a time.

Haha, this thread has been open & closed a few times.
So there was some truth to the rumor, huh… Explains why he wasn't named in the Eels trial, I guess.

I agree with Poster: King Sirro though, some time in the lower grades to get himself back in to shape,
Give sheens some time to figure out what he wants to do.

Exciting stuff eh

Then in my opinion he must start the year in State Cup and spend at least a month there.

That is crazy, it is a rolled ankle, should have little or no impact on where he starts, it is still 3 weeks from the first round.
As for the knee injury, he has a had a full offseason, plus he was getting quite fit late last year, most times when they injure a knee, they dont get in that full off season and that is why they struggle.

it is so unnecessary to come back thru NSW cup, and staying there for a month is ridiculous

from the tele

Many are tipping big things from the Tigers after they burst back into the finals last year after a five-year hiatus. Sheens, however, c**ould have several players set to enter the Monday night NRL opener against the Bulldogs with no trial** **form**, including Gareth Ellis, and **Tim Moltzen, who twisted an ankle last week**.

With no form on the board. (keeping in mind foundation cup is still a week away) you would have to say Lui will start in the 7 with Moltzen on the bench. Hopefully Moltzen can regain his dazzling form and own the 7.

Moltzen hasn't played first grade football for nearly a year, I'd be all for him getting a start for at least a couple of weeks in reggies, unless Sheens plans to use him off the bench as his mandatory back and inject him in slowly.

I think your missing the point that Moltzen is still yet to come back from his knee reconstruction, and thats the reason i think he should start in State Cup. The rolled ankle is just a minor setback, but its cost him trial games, therefore any chance to prove he's ready for the NRL come round one.

Lui was always gonna be at number 7.

Rolled ankles are annoying.

So the original thread post was true - I think some of you guys owe Tiga4eva an apology.

Not missing the point at all, in the full time era, players rarely come back thru reggies, they get their timing and patterns on the training paddock, he has trained all off season and will be fine.
It probably results in Lui getting first crack at 7, but overall this rolled ankle and not playing trials is not that important at all,

Especially the Gun players.

Again - Lui was always gonna be #7

I apologize. Great early call Tiger4Eva.

Interesting that Lote debunked it on Twitter though!?

Well u must of because my point was more to do with his knee but your point was about his ankle. I think it would be in Tims best interest to get some game time under his belt before playing NRL. Its not like he's Benji Marshall…..the kid has some healthy competition for his spot and needs to prove himself.

I addressed your concerns with his knee, in both responses, and as I have said twice previously, he was able to complete a full offseason, and physically will be fully recovered, and has had an entire offseason to work on timing , combinations and structures etc…
He will gain little or nothing from playing NSW cup. The days of bringing guys through reserve grade went out with leather balls and the magic sponge

I think he is passed proving himself, he is clearly a classy first grade player. The only question is where he plays

7\. Tim Moltzen…no brainer

I like Moltzen at 7 as well but Lui has first shot at it this weekend and if he performs then Tim will have to wait his turn. Moltzen would be good coming off the bench if Sheens continues with a back on the bench policy. I would personally have Fulton to cover the backs and forwards on the bench which will allow the other three bench positions to be big forwards like Payten, Fifita, Woods, Moors, Dwyer, BMM, etc
