Dean Ritchie ‏@BulldogRitchie 23s
@Wests_Tigers player Tim Moltzen has cracked kneecap and will be out for between 12 weeks and six months.

Very doubtful that that is what it is. Usual mechanism is contact and pretty strong contact too. Not going to judge anything until the club says something over Ritchie

It certainly sounds a strange injury for no contact. I'd be very surprised if a cracked kneecap is the injury.

Channel 7 news stated that he has broken his knee cap on the same leg he did his ACL this year in round 7

maybe he hit his knee hard, against something like an elbow, the ground etc. not an expert on cracked kneecaps though

Wow unusual. Poor bloke can't miss a trick. You got to feel for him!

Austin will get a real crack I think. Anasta was woeful last year and I would prefer Austin have a shot. That assumes Sironen is in the back row and only at 6 if it is dire

So sad poor bugger . His confidence would be shot to bits . We all know he is a confidence player .

Broken knee cap, booked in for surgery tomorrow. Wish him well with recovery but it's a long way back for him now.

It's a 6 month recovery at minimum also a lot of things can go wrong with the recovery I would say his gone for 2014 feel very sorry for him but with the way his knees are going it might be best for him to start looking at a career change.

Wow. It's somewhat a relief it's not s ligament but the poor bloke definately knows how to get an unlucky injury. Here's hoping we haven't seen the last of him.

Season 2014 isn't starting too well is it ….. Tragedy for Tim and the club ... I really feel for him and hope he can get back on the field sooner rather than later.

Gutted for Tim. No one likes to see anyone injured. Tough road back and I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire. Would give us some salary cap relief also i assume. Best for both parties.

Suppose it depends what he has as a back up plan whether he would contemplate retirement

I think he will give it another go .

If he has broken his kneecap , you have to think the ACL is still strong

Being a separate injury would leave you more hope than the same injury 3 times, I know ive done my shoulder 3 times, time to hang up the boots lol

i know it's not the same injury nor the same situation, but benji went through 4 shoulder recos and came through out the other enter pretty amazing in our good years. and also 08 in between.

so, moltz will give it another crack i reckon.

"Thankyou to everyone for the well wishes. In for surgery tomorrow, then back to rehab for some hard work. Disappointing but ill bounce back!"

from his twitter.

I agree, however benjis werent all full recos, but I know what your getting at.

An different injury will keep him mor optimistic than the Same injury 3 times
