Moltzen Staying Or Going

Why is it embarrassing? Our CEO is looking after OUR interests.

Also, I don't think this is a knee jerk reaction to the Lui issue, I think Tim has approached the club and asked if there is still the possibility of him staying a Tiger, the club who now have more room under the cap have said there is and is protecting a club asset.

You are embarrassed because you have insinuated quite alot re Lui and Carney…

It's embarrassing because it makes the club look indecisive, incompetent and unprofessional. As I said, I've backed the club in this debacle so far (check my post history) but the latest flip-flop is one too far for me. Once again: I'm glad they're trying to do what they think is best for the team but it would be infinitely preferable if they'd just shut the hell up rather than making a stream of contradictory statements. A decent PR officer would never have let them go down this path.

Simple

If the player wants to stay, we want him to stay and we can afford him etc….

Stuff the Dragons and the rest IMO.

West Tigers First!

We keep hearing talk that he his heart is supposedly with the Tigers, but has anyone actually heard him come out and publicly state that he doesn't want to go? as far as him not returning phone calls, isn't he overseas atm?

Brilliant.

Why?

Because all the backflip talk is heresay and rumour. No one from the Wests Tigers side has shown any actual form of a backflip.

The journos and Doust are trying their darned-ness to make it look that way.

Doust is an imbecile, and is not fit to run a football club - he can't even get OUR CEO's NAME RIGHT!!!

Errrr - Sheens quoted as saying ''the boys have known all about Timid going, its not the reason for the parra loss.''

Marshall quoted as saying ''hes on fire now, will be a loss, I wont get to see him every day.''

Moltzen himself:
‘‘I’m happy with the decision but my focus is on the Tigers and I’m not really worried about next year until it comes around.’’

Having never met Dragons coach-in-waiting Steve Price, he was given permission to negotiate with other NRL clubs.

Moltzen has since met with his future coach on several occasions to discuss his plans but the utility insists he hasn’t been guaranteed a certain position in the team for 2012.

‘‘We obviously spoke about it because I wanted to know where I stood going to a club like that,’’ Moltzen said.

…...Everyone for months was under the impression he was gone, fans wishing him well.... at games and pressos....one big fraud

x2\. When the media have been given those kind of quotes, its hard to argue that they are trying to spin the story and make us look like the bad guyz

So the dragon's whole argument is "they have a player who they said we can have, therefore he is ours!". Will be interesting to see how the NRL handles this. Sounds to me like they have got nothing without the paperwork.

If Moltz does want to stay with the Tigers (and I'd like to think we wouldn't be doing this if he didn't) surely it would be better that he and Tauber at least try to discuss this with the Dragons, rather than skipping meetings and not returning calls.

When Steve Turner reneged on his deal with the Titans he tried to argue that he hadn't signed anything, but the NRL still recognised that his verbal agreement created a valid contract. I know this is a different issue, but I'm not convinced that we have the upper hand in any contract dispute.

The Tigers told him to look around & he did & he didnt want to go, Then all of a sudden the Tigers think gee we might need him & then want to keep him. In all of this right or wrong the Tigers have not given him a release so i would say he has a binding contract with the Tigers, but who knows what will happen?. This could go longer then the Adam Blair fiasco.

Oh goody. We get to be made out as a dishonest, manipulating club in the media while Moltzen hides in Las Vegas. Great for the club that is.

How many poor sods will be traded to the Dragons or released elsewhere to accomodate Moltzens overpriced contract? We were right at our cap limit I thought.

What will the total cost be to the club in money, reputation lost and players lost?

Just release him. Benji and co just have to suck it up and be professional.

Adam Blair wasn't a fiasco we got our man but it took a hell of a long time

according to reports
moltzen has a lodged contract with the nrl with the tigers next year
also the tigers still apparently havent organised a formal release

therefore tim is ours and will stay

The dragons didnt exactly do the right thing…they publicly proclaimed they signed him with no confirmation from the tigers

if motlz stays lui is getting punted for sure
thats where the money is coming from

Geez wugby leeeegg is brill yeah.
Almost as bonza off the paddock as on.

Almost due for a rooster/ nightclub story aren't we ?
And just which burly backrower was spotted recently shopping for 2 ply yarn at Spotlight with the sister of a prominant player agent whose middle name spells trouble in ancient hebrew ?

All will be revealed in the special Wugby Leeeegg edition of New Idea, at all good newsagents this Friday.

….and yeah, I hope Moltzen stays

I think Humphreys is just waiting to find out if Moltz cleaned up in Vegas, then they can use the money to pay out his Dragons contract and all will be sweet!

Yes, you'd think so…..however the ''stick fingers in ears, close eyes tightly while repetitively chanting 'Im not going, no one can make me...I'm not going, no one can make me' method seems the preferred option

I don't know Ink it worked when it came to bombs and running the ball back with gusto early in the season

And when our CEO responded, at the time, by saying that we haven't even released him from next year's contract, they apparently failed to follow this up - until now. Surely that makes them look even less professional…

Yep. They made assumptions that turned out to be wrong. It's okay for them to say that's how it always happens but based on the statements released, WT strongly pointed out no release had taken place. They should have got it sorted then.
A lot of this apparent tooing and froing in the last week or so has more to do with media speculation. At the end of the day Humphreys has been fairly consistent with what he's said. Despite speculation earlier in the week I saw no comment from him stating that WT were going to release Moltzen, just a hazy suggestion that it would with nobody quoted or referenced.

Of course it is a knee jerk reaction to the Lui issue.

If Lui didn't alledgedly muck up, Moltzen would already have his Dragons socks in the bottom drawer.

Humphreys admitted that he had been in talks with Tauber about Moltzen's future, but had not released him.

“The fact that the Dragons made the announcement this afternoon has come as a complete surprise to us,’’ Humphreys said. “We are extremely disappointed that they chose this course of action without any co-ordination or agreement with us.

"We have been in discussions with Tim Moltzen’s manager regarding his future but at this point have not formally agreed to release him from the final year of his playing contract with Wests Tigers.

Have not formally agreed to release him, That was a statement made in July. Perhaps Dragons announcement could come back to bite them. Even if did 'verbally agree' to release Moltzen, which I have no idea if he did or not, Humphreys could say that part of the terms of release was that Tigers announce the news later in the year. That would mean the terms of release were not met. Tauber/Doust would need to make a new agreement with Humphreys for release of contract which he could reject if he isn't happy with it. Surely Tigers have lawyers looking at loopholes like this.

That's why a legal document is important, so that both parties agree on the core terms. If it's verbal, one party can claim the other party did not meet conditions of the contract etc. It's messy though.
