I'm more hopeful now

But
That quote from Humphreys was from telegraph and then the letter from doust contradicts it totally.

I don't think Humphreys ever said it.

Doust's statement uses it mate. I haven't seen one to contradict it?

http://www.dragons.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=44473&title=statement-from-dragons-ceo-peter-doust-tim-moltzen-signing-facts-&-update

Furthermore we have been in daily contact with Wests Tigers Management since last Tuesday ensuring they understood our “good faith” actions throughout negotiations with Tim and his Manager and were encouraged to believe that the release would be forthcoming.
>
Public comments made by Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphries on Monday, October 10 confirmed that position,
>
“The way that it is likely to play out is that he will be going to the Dragons. We don’t want to stretch it out.
>
“We will have a conversation with them in the next few days about it, but we have been working on the assumption that he won’t be here next season”.

Its a big leap of faith to say direct quotes never happened unless there is proper evidence to back up such claims.

Why release the statement then. If they were in contact with humphries and they "said" he will more then likely play With saints. Why release the long winded statement.

Two days later he wants the Nrl to step in. Why would he need Nrl to step in if tigers gave indication that ge will leave tigers.

Doust is using a play on words. To many contradictions and to many change of statements.

Word from the DT was that Humphreys was overruled by the board on the issue last Tuesday, and the release was never given. Which seems a likely scenario given the massive backflip.

A lot can happen in a day or two.
Just cause we dont hear about it….well there no point in drawing conclusions or speculating

Why did Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys tell The Daily Telegraph on Sunday that a release to the Dragons was coming, then backflip on Wednesday? Apparently his board - that wants Moltzen to stay - overruled him at a meeting on Tuesday.

NRL: 2012 player transfer market hotting up
by: Dean Ritchie From: The Daily Telegraph October 18, 2011 9:45PM

IT is the chain reaction ready to turn rugby league in its head for 2012\. There's Todd Carney, Robert Lui, Tim Moltzen, even Matt Orford.

**The Daily Telegraph can reveal Carney is expected to join Cronulla later this week while Lui will shortly be sacked by Wests Tigers and signed by North Queensland.**

But the key signing will be Carney with sources close to the Sharks saying he has been offered an attractive two-year deal at Toyota Stadium. Carney's second year earnings will double provided he can stay away from trouble.

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has been regularly speaking with Carney's manager David Riolo and held a private discussion with Carney a month ago.

Flanagan will meet with Riolo today about another player but is certain to discuss the Carney situation.

Cronulla did fear North Queensland was also chasing Carney but Cowboys football manager Peter Parr denied this yesterday. It leaves Cronulla as the only club wanting Carney, last year's Dally M Medal winner. The process to sign Carney has been drawn out with the player and Riolo both having had recent overseas holidays.

Cronulla hope to announce Carney by the end of this week although Flanagan was preferring not to comment yesterday. However, the Sharks and Riolo will include some behavourial conditions in Carney's contract.

There was excitement in The Shire yesterday when the club Twittered about a significant announcement at 11am today. But it's not to announce Carney.

The Sharks will reveal a two- year extension for inspirational skipper Paul Gallen, who was under contract until the end of 2013 but will now be at Cronulla until after 2015 - a time when he will likely retire. It is known that Gallen has told Cronulla officials to sign Carney.

Parr said his club had also discussed Carney but withdrew from negotiations.

**There is on-going talk the Tigers will cut Lui after his court appearance on October 27 for assault. He will then link with North Queensland alongside Johnathan Thurston.**

Asked was his club interested in Carney, Parr said: "We won't be making an offer to Todd Carney. It was discussed internally about whether we should pursue it but we won't be going down that line."

Some in rugby league question why any clubs would be interested in Carney and Lui. But one player manager said: "Quality is hard to find these days."

Orford yesterday became an X-factor in the halfback confusion, declaring himself ready to play after undergoing surgery on his groin: "I want to keep playing," Orford said.

There were suggestions the Tigers may have spoken internally about Orford but his manager, George Mimis, denied this but did say: "Matt certainly hasn't retired."

**Wests Tigers are also looking at playing Tim Moltzen at halfback, provided the club retains him after he signed a second contract with St George Illawarra.**

NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert is expected later this week to hand down a recommendation on where he believes Moltzen should play next season.

Schubert has asked both clubs for additional information about their individual deals with Moltzen.

Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said he would abide by Schubert's decision.

i know its not the right thing to do… but what punishment is it to Lui to do the wrong thing, to only walk into another contract with another NRL team... so the only one who looses out is us in this case.. This is where the NRL needs to step in IF HE IS FOUND GUILTY... they talk about bringing the game into disrepute and this is a classic case

I think it's fair Troy. If a team can't control a player, they lose out. I'm happy if another team picks a player up and maybe can fix their behavior. What would be worse is if a player is let lose with no responsibilities to anyone.

It's the same with Todd Carney. The Roosters had their chance to reform him, they didn't. See if the Sharkies can get the bloke on the straight and narrow…. my guess is no, but the management there should have a shot.

to a point i agree.. but in this case, i think its something a club can control.

Carney, well Roosters asked for it.. they have a social bunch of baboons who are piss heads.. they asked for trouble the day they singed Mason from the Dogs, and since then they have been on a downward Spiral…
