the word is the Dragons want 400K compensation to release Moltzen

Does that count towards the cap and/or do the club have it up their sleeve?

I honestly think with a bit of negotiation there may be a far more amicable end to this deal if it does happen.

Maybe Benji can ask Harry houdini for it haha

i'm not realy sure of the ins and outs of what the money would come under. The 400K compensation is all i've heard

Most definitely would be part of salary cap That's why finding a player we could trade off would be easier

i dont think it would be part of the salary cap as it isn't salary.
It is money that is going to the Dragons.
All that will count towards the cap is his contract.

screw Moltzen he was more than happy to sign for the Dragons and now he want back.

he can gtfo and stay at the dragons

Yeah many would probably agree but remember we gave hin the option to look for another club - what did you expect him to do?

Now if he was a QLDer (or a NSWmen who plays for QLD) named Greg Inglis it would be no problem

Souths had to give up Beau Champion, so its not like they got him without having to give anything up

the Tigers were the ones who gave him permission to negotiate. As someone else already pointed out, what did you expect him to do? :crazy

Remember the payout for Sam Burgess I think it was from his contract didn't seem to affect Souths ability in signing players last year…

The rumors were it was large but from the outside it didn't appear like the compensation dented their cap

 Obviously Benji has got his way with Humpty

on a different note, the Dragons will struggle to find a replacement for a 1 year deal…

I think the Dragons have more than enough potential fullbacks who are more than able to do the job. I can't look past Nightingale and how well he plays when Boyd is on Origin duty.

It puzzled me when the Dragons signed Moltz as they have the players to fill the void left by Boyd and I couldn't imagine Moltzen leaving a "semi-permanant FB spot at WT, to join the Dragons as a possible utility.

Oh what rubbish, if a boss told me at work that we might be getting rid of you in a few months you should look elsewhere for another job, I am not going to sit there for 4 months and say I want to stay

I agree Golden. Moltzen's decision was based on job security and his future. At the time the Tigers couldn't promise Moltzen that so he went looking for a club that would. It wasn't a decision of where he wanted to play, it was about who could provide him a secure future.

Just heard them on the radio again. Don't know if it is old news being reported, but the rumour is out there and there must at very least be a little substance to it.

I do remember Humphreys on The Game Plan mid year, and I quote, "Moltzen is going no where".

Me tends to think that it is a manager looking for more cash and he got it, and it surprised both the Tigers and Moltzen, but given his position at the time, it was a chance for security even though it was not what he wanted.

I hope he honours his contract with St George.
Everyone is in a panic because it looks like lui will be punted.
Moltzen is not the answer to our halfback problems if lui does go.

I know this is very optimistic but if moltzen meant us having a better chance of winning the premiership, 400K is chicken feed!!

100% correct - Lui hasn't been convicted of any charges

Good Luck at the Dragons Motlz
