Moltzen Staying Or Going

Does this mean that Moltzen will play with the Tigers for 2012 but is contracted to the Dragons for 2013/14? Although I'm sure they wouldn;t take him at all after this mess.

The whole contract will be null and void BB

That's an interesting question and I'm guessing one for the lawyers to work out. Everyone appears to acting as though the whole contract is void because Moltzen was signed to the WT for 2012 and therefore a) they weren't really in a position to offer squat and b) Moltzen legally cannon meet the conditions of the contract (i.e. he can't turn out for WT and SGI next year).

Now whether this is true or not I couldn't answer and it may well be that the contract conditions for 2013 and 2014 are perfectly valid and Moltzen may have be obligated to meet them. My gut feeling is that the whole contract is pretty much on the nose - the Dragons never bothered to lodge it - and it was signed on a pretext that never exsisted (that Moltzen was available to play in 2012). I'm thinking removing 33% of a contract length and money would be enough grounds for either side to exit. Indeed I'm sure there would be clauses preventing either side changing the contract without the agreement of both sides.

On that basis I'd suggest the contract will be terminated and won't see the light of day.

So i guess Humprehys is true to his word when he said on the Game Plan the day before Saints triumphed his signing, that Moltzen would be staying.

Lol @ the Saints fans who delude themselves into thinking that they're a big club who should be able to boss other clubs around.

If salary cap budgeting is a little off we might see a player or two leave.

Benji will be pleased.

I dare say unless Tigers have a change of heart they have a legal backing to make any agreement between Moltzen and St George nullified.
Time for the tigers to stop being the nice guys of the league and to dig their heels in.

Whatever happens it'll make for a couple of interesting clashes vs the dragons next year

Black Orange White, sorry if this seems a dumb question but what is "LU"?

Leagueunlimited and the forums therein. A cavalcade of thinly disguised swearing and flame wars usually involving copious use of the word merkin… The only decent space I've ever found is the international league section which actually contains some interesting discussion/info.

It puts a whole different tone on the comments made by Humpries mid season after the trade was announced.

Humpries copped some flak at the time, I think we now see why he was stunned, they had not released him as yet!

So true. Most posters have little clue of what they are actually saying, and half the stuff on there is just posts written for arguments. Just thinking about that forum makes me want to thank the mods here, because nothing there happens here. However, when something like this happens, just go in a forum to get some nice laughs.

Seriously, who cares about what was done, what wasnt, what was signed, etc. We will probably never know the ins and outs.

The fact is our circumstances have changed and we are taking advantage of it. If this stuffs the Dragons around, I dont care. I want the best team on the park that we can have under the cap.

We should be celebrating the fact we get to keep him and not worry about anything else.

Go Wests.

the LU thread from St George is quite funny..

a few things i have noticed.

There very up them selves.. One was quoted as saying "We are ST GEORGE. they are a 2nd teir team"
I am gathering there are a few Americans over there.. All they talk about is St George suing Tigers and Moltz

The more i read, the more i laugh…

they couldn't even seek a formal release and validate a correct contract with the NRL and we are the '2nd teir team'?
Dragons fans have their heads so far up their backsides that its hard to take them seriously when they have anything to say. Easily the most cocky set of supporters anywhere in Australian sport. Some Dragons fans i spoke to mid-yr honestly believed that this current Dragons side was the greatest Rugby League side in the history of the game. Those words came out of their mouths. And then they crashed
so yeah, Dragons fans don't have a lot of credibility

St George fans have and always will put themselves up on a pedestal. Almost as bad as Souths fans and their arrogant sense of entitlement.

dont get me wrong, i can understand why they are upset.. but they should be more upset with thier own management then ours and Moltz. Plus along with them having EGOs as big as well St George…

i posted this a couple dayz ago, but i thought i might post again just incase anyone missed it
