MOLTZEN? Thread

Catching a bomb is a confidence thing and it is difficult to teach someone who just isn't confident, they may look OK at training and may defuse a few in games but unfortunately in pressure situations they will revert back their natural abilities. If I were Time Sheens I would be dropping Reddy back to play as the defensive fullback and Moltzen would defend in the centres. You just can't keep thinking he will get better because when it really matters he will let you down big time.

The problem with this is that you would miss Moltzen's kick returns. I know people are stating they are weak but the reality is that he can make a bust. I can't see Reddy doing this.

Mate that's harsh on Ryan he won the match with his try from nothing on friday which was just pure skill on his behalf. As for Moltzen I think he is great when he has the ball, solid enough for a little bloke in defence just struggles with the bombs. Where is Garry jack or Timmy brasher being brought in to help him. I think we struggle a bit by no outside backs in the coaching team- sheens, georgallis, sandals -2propps and a hooker/half

I love Beau, but it was a nothing kick and Manu dropped it, we were very lucky to score that try

I think our problems with bombs shows another thing

That defensively we have improved so much In years gone past teams would rarely bomb the Tigers as they knew eventually we would crack and usually open up pretty badly

Now they find the easiest way to break us is the high ball .

Tim Moltzen plays like the Tigers, Some days are diamonds some days are stones. Personally i wouldn't have it any other way.I love the Tigers because they produce an exciting game of footy, I love that each game is different( not like Melbourne or St George) They try their hardest and sometimes mistakes happen but sometimes it doesn't. How boring would it be to watch a team that didn't try different things or chance a play that might come off.

The heading of this topic "Moltzen Pathetic" is great.

He is just that.

Can anybody name a worse first grade fullback playing in the NRL at the moment?

He is the worst, but that's not such an insult on him, as opposed to the incredibly high quality of NRL fullbacks there is. But what It does highlight is the importance of a fullback in your side. Theres no suprise South's rise has come by turning there centre into probably the 2nd best fullback in the world.

I'll just say this. There isn't one first grade fullback who i'd turn down if we could trade Moltzen

William Zillman,

Reese Robinson,

Matthew Wright,

There's three that I rate worse than Moltz, and I've probably forgotten a couple.

Having said that, he's not far from the bottom at the moment.

Reece Robinson??? he's been a revelation at fullback

This is the same bloke who scored the match winner on Friday right?

I bet they didn't think he was too shabby then.
Although he was playing 5/8 at the time.

Melbourne are one of the best teams in the NRL to watch in my opinion Personally i would prefer to the Tigers to get down and dirty and win however they have to . A bit like that comment from the movie "White men can't Jump"

The Tigers would almost prefer to lose looking pretty ,instead of winning ugly

Well the last 2 years have featured a lot of ugly winning, top 4 finishes, and a step up when the finals started.

GNR, I don't think Robinson would have made the clutch play that Moltzen made in the 77th minute like he did. Thats the difference in my opinion.

My point exactly Yoss 2006-2009 proves that

Sometimes though (The Benji flick passes for example on Friday for example or the BMM no try v Titans) Where all it would take is Benji to simply hand off and set up for the next play where he can be far ,far more dangerous with broken field and an unset defensive line Conventional football Yoss

You make a good point Happy but for mine i had nothing wrong with those 2 plays, If BMM dived earlier he wouldve scored and the flick pass was quality Reddy should've caught that one. In saying that though there are definatly times when conservative over razzle dazzle is the go and we are definatly guilt of choosing the later in most cases

Reddy can be forgiven for missing that one, but if it was any other player who had played with Benji for longer (Lawrence or Beau for example), they would have expected it, snapped it up and scored.
