Moltzen to be squeezed out

Moltzen is a jack of all trades, but an expert at none.

He is handy at times, and has talent that everyone can see.

But am uncertain where he fits in with next years squad?

5/8 is Austin, anasta, sironen

A back up fullback or half is a possibility, but we are prob paying overs for a shadow player. But after our injury run this year, who knows?

It may be that Austin steps up and has already established himself as 5/8 by the time Moltzen is fit, but given Austin's history I wouldn't be betting on it.

Every week Sirro looks more like a second rower and Anasta looks more like a retiree, so it's nice to have at least one other bloke who is a possible 5/8.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in the discussion about Moltzen as potential injury cover: do you want your injury cover to be a dude who's had two knee reconstructions in less than three years? Unfortunate for the guy, but still.

I used to like him he just never hit his peak and when he'd come close he wouldn't be consistent. Can't see where he would be needed next year?

Parra would need him next year if Hayne goes to the dogs

Moltzen could be a useful back up to half, 5/8 in what I think will be the final year of his contract unless of course he is unfortunate enough to be injure again. Unless he turns his form around in a big way not worth keeping once contract is up based on playing and injury history, the ball really will be in his court upon his playing return.

Highest try scorer in 2012 and most line breaks.
Most consistent back this year before injury.
Only problem for him will be his leg.

That was 2012\. It will now be 2014, and another ACL injury. We have better options going ahead.

He was far from most consistent back this year. The bloke is a scared to bring the ball back.

The only real positive to Moltzen is his speed, which we now have plenty of so you couldn't play him at fullback or wing ahead of what we have.

Back up five-eighth/halfback at best IMO.

I agree. After coming back from injury, he merely jogged to the line every time. He is no chance of replacing Teddy at no.1, and he doesn't posses the confidence to take on the line in the halves - even as a replacement. We need to move on. Good luck in the UK Tim.

The smart move would be to let him go.

He still has a contact with WT. He won't go if he has no reasonable offer from elsewhere and we pay out the remainder of his contract. He is entitled to stay so I don't blame him. If you want to blame somebody then blame the source of all our troubles, the great Humphrey

How much is he on and where do you play him ?

To me Tedesco is a much better 1\. Moltzen could fit in at 6 and probably do it well but is he worth persisting with ?

For mine, I'd be prepared to let him go - IF - whomever picks him up pays his complete contract. As other posters have said, I'm sick and tired of subsidising contracts of players who have moved on (or been moved on)! If that isn't going to happen, then keep him. Might do well in NSW Cup and be a reasonable back up if injuries strike.
