Arrh…He is the thrird choice kicker behind Farah and Marshall and will be for a while....The kicks he put in today where purposeful and done well....
 
Moltzen has looked good in every position he's played so far and all round just seems to be a good footy player.Given alot of his junior footy has been played in the 7 it seems the logical option now to just leave him there.
 
He just takes the pressure off Benji, so Marshall can do what he does. We will now see more of Benji's passes and kicks hitting their marks, as he won't feel he has to do it all.
 
I have no doubt that we would be a top 8 side this year if Moltzen had played in the 7 all season. Marshall has been superb since Moltzen moved into the 7\. Its taken Sheens 3/4 of a season to finally get it right. Unfortunatley it may be too late.
 
Playing Moltzen in our right side defence is also a good move.

It allows Ayshford to defend at 5/8 where he is most effective and Moltzen has the speed, and the experience from various appearances, to defend at centre.

This structure has been developed for a while now and I honestly do not believe Moltzen was readt at the start of the season, he was overawed by the grade, he will admit that, and not yet a part of the team in many ways. Now he is used to directing the boys, is part of the team in every way and the move was prudent.

I would have thought the move was on 4 weeks before it happened but thats how it goes I guess.

Yesterday also showed why we will miss Morris in a big way next year though.

Defensively no doubt, he was outstanding, but in attack? I think we'll be right without him next year
 
Attack isn't our biggest problem though.

Morris cleans up where alot of others miss. He gets good shot on too. Not legs tackles like Fulton used to but puts them down hard.
 
Finally we have found someone to run at the line
He has taken heaps of pressure off Marshall & another thing that has impressed me about the kid is that he's adapted almost immedietly to all the positions that have been thrown to him :smiley:
 
Robbie does enough of the organising close to the ruck with the forwards while having Benji out wide to organise the backs is a good combination. Moltzen just needs to be in the middle and know what each of them are doing and feed the neccesary play. Having both Benji and Farah close together trying to organise everything was leaving us short out wide.

As long as Moltzen can communicate with both of them and occassionally run the ball he should be fine
 
MOLTZEN HAD A GREAT GAME ,GIVEN MORE TIME TO DEVELOPE , HE SHOULD BE OUR ANSWER TO THE HALFBACK PROBLEM.

LOVED THE WAY HE SMILED UP AT BOWEN AFTER HE WAS ELBOWED BY HIM AND WON A PENALTY FOR THE TIGERS.

Morris played the role of halfback assassin very nicely yesterday. He put a heap of pressure on their kick which is something we've been lacking all season.

All in all, for the last 2 weeks the team has looked much more comfortable in their current positions.

14\. Liam Fulton….2009 SL 7 games 242 tackles Ave 34.5 tpg... Missed Tackles 8 Ave 1.14....Marker tackles 35 Ave 5pg....I'll take that over Morris in D no matter how he puts them down...Attack Try assists 2, 8 offloads, 8 tackle busts, 3 clean breaks, 16 kicks, 8 attacking kicks, Errors 5, Penalties conceeded 6...I'll take him in attack over Morris as well....
 
All I am saying is you put a player on his back or side and they don't get the quick PTB they would with a legs tackle. With the legs tackle you almost always end up a marker down.

I am not bagging Fults at all I just think people underestimate the value Morris is to any team when used correctly
 
Yeah good call….Morris does put them down and dominates most tackles....didn't think you where bagging Fult's either different style of player... Sheens has be content not to use Fulton as a battering ram if he does come back....bring back the ball playing lock....

Imagine if Sheens had of swollowed his pride and used Morris as a 14\. for 3 seasons.....

I agree but Sheens hasn't used him correctly until the past 2 games and he has had a 3 year contract.

Morris can add a lot to our team as a lock forward / utility player and imo he showed that against the cowgirls however if we had of resigned him would sheens still use him in the halves where he has been terrible as a playmaker.

I think he is a better option than Fulton or Halatau in that role but I don't trust our coaching staff to use him correctly or the club to pay him a fair portion of our cap.
