WESTS Tigers fullback Tim Moltzen's new three-year deal has lifted a weight off his shoulders and he can now concentrate on finishing the season.

Moltzen created headlines in the pre-season after backing out of a deal to join St George Illawarra in order to stay with the Tigers and see out the final year of his contract.

Since pledging his allegiance, Wests management and Moltzen have taken their time to re-sign the utility half-fullback who is hoping to play out his career at the club after agreeing to terms last week.

“It’s good to have some security for the next three years and be at a club I love,” Moltzen said from training on Monday.

“I knew we’d get something nutted out, I didn’t know how long it would take.”

Moltzen began the season playing at halfback, before being moved to fullback where he is likely to finish the season.

if this is the "official announcement" by the club, then you would think lewis would have been announced alongside moltzen if signed.

With Tedesco our future fullback and Siro/Benji in the halves for what I think will be for the next few years (bar injuries), Moltz could be our every game utility or maybe BRET may see a lot more of him…

Why would that be the case?

and anyway, this isn't from the club it says sportsnewsfirst.com.au

If the club do sign Lewis, I dont think it will be a massive fan fare press thing, that would be seen to be in bad taste. Of course their would be a press release and the media will be all over it but I think the tigers would try and keep it low key and show the Panthers some respect unlike some other clubs

As for signing Moltzen again, I know he has plenty of people who doubt he has what it takes, but I think we need him in the 13 just for his pace. No one knows how Teddy will back up in 2013\. I think its a good signing

I agree supercoach - in light of our form this year, just on pace alone he is so valuable… It's fine for people to criticize but what are the alternatives.. Even though he's been patchy this year hes had his share of injuries but has made some key contributions and scored some tries . He could now be a valuable utility providing young teddy comes through ok.

I for one am very happy Moltzen is staying….He runs great angles, chimes in well and I often feel more confident of us winning when he is in the 13.

Is it any co-incidence we have lost the past few games because he was injured?

He was back on Sat night and look what happened!

Yeah agree he looked so safe on Saturday under the high ball, took the line on at full pace, played like he has for the majority of the season.

The sarcasm metre just exploded

I think its a bad move, I would have let him go.

Club probably prefers to fly under the radar on this one….very embarrassing for all concerned, opening old wounds...a sad sad period for the club

doubt it, the media will always open up those wounds in any article that even includes the name moltzen.
if they thought the whole ordeal was embarrassing, they wouldn't have re-signed him imo to avoid the media bringing this up again

We all know what contracts are like these days…

Moltz for an extra year was almost certain considering Teddy's injury. Who know what will happen in 2013\. If benji gets injured or something else goes wrong then suddenly having Moltz on the books doesn't look like a bad move at all.

Embarrasment subsides within a few days, it easy to deal with.
Loss of sponsors (Lui) is much much more severe and has far reaching implications

I like his pace too,but his performance last w/e with the pressure supposedly "off " doesnt auger well for the next 3 years…he wouldnt do the hard yards in challenging high balls,& was a total embarrassment at times in defence.
Plays a lot like his flatmate, but without the talent
Any demanding coach wld have hooked him several times regardless of lack of options.
Thats why we are where we are I guess..everyone is just way too comfy

he looks good for depth, but my worry is that he may hold back someone else from the team, where the coach keeps him in the 17 whereas other promising stars in U20's or even NSW Cup don't get a crack at 1st grade

Don't count your chickens yet. They got rid of you once before while under contract they can do it again.
Of course we all would "love a job" where performance is not accountable.
