More upheaval for Wests Tigers owners as chairwoman deposed by Magpies boss, SMH

The competent owner is us.

Return ultimate ownership to members, let us vote a board in.

Look at whats happened under private ownership? Years of nest feathering, nepotism and jobs for mates.

Richo is not forever. His health and age will catch up with him.

One dark evening, the light on the hill will flicker and snuff out. Hopefully he doesnt snuff it, but you get my drift.
When you say us, are you a member of Wests Ashfield, because that's the board he's chairman of, not the Tigers?
I have no idea why anyone on here gives a crap about this.

Can you imagine any of our players having to front the board and you are greeted with someone like Dennis who does not have the experience, demeanour or appearance to deserve that level of respect.

A player gets chastised for coming back overweight and is being told off by someone who wont even groom appropriately for a leadership role and plays these dumb political games.

That's when players leave the club.

These guys are supposed to be our top dogs.

Im a Wests Tigers member and id prefer to see our board directly answerable to members and not anyone else.

Then non performers get turfed.

A lot of organisations run quite well on a democratic principles.

Term limits into the bargain.

Generate our own revenue instead of being beholden to any club or group etc who would exercise its influence.

And board members would have to rely on their record.

I dont care that Denny looks like he might want to sell you something in the club toilets one night, or marvel at a giant rubber turd some artist has sculptured in Dubbo for the last 5 years...but id like to know about his management decisions and how they turned out.

The devil is in the detail.

I do agree. Appearance is only one factor. But in the business community, it's unfortunately considered, and most people in those positions respect it. I'm not a board member, but even I've been given jabs to make more of an effort sometimes (and they were right)

It's clear how his decisions turned out over the last 10 years and we can just look at his experience to understand why. He's not qualified to make them.

We need better people on the HDB board to keep these muppets off the WT board. David Gilbert was perfect, but unfortunately he was one of the ones removed.

You can have any structure/s you want, buf i think youre lost if you dont have a mechanism for change that effectively devolves down to members.

The main point of the board is not just to make decisions but get the right people in.

Boards get stale, conflicts of interests arise and general incompetence emerges.

Years and years of it.
But like you said...

The main purpose of the board is to get the right people in.
Heck conflict of interests... Bring them on in NRL. Craig's dad is either the GM or chairman of the Sharks, that's how they got him. As long as we don't have stupid stuff like Issac Moses's wife number #56 sitting on the board, we need to be families in families.

We need the talent here.

The "experience" argument is interesting and problematic at the same time.

We all know people who have spent a lot of time in one job and never seem to ace it ( for any number of reasons).

Lee had a lot of experience in law and on the Board etc, but when his time came to lead the club, not only did he fail but he got marched.

So im not against "experience" but that doesnt guarantee success.

Conversely, Benji, the most inexperienced, coach in the NRL had a less than satisfactory first season.

I suppose we apply the labels and arguments after the fact in some cases.

And im not a grinch, but we need consistency!
