Geo thought the 2 waiting for the COP were ET and Lovett, but you would think because those 2 are already with the club they would waiver the COP.
That's what was behind my thinking.

Grant …. Well he did something at Penrith once before. Ivan knows who he is dealing with.
 
Grant wants a long term contract. Not sure I would offer that, it depends on the value he expects.
He is not the top line front rower he was when Souths signed him on big money, but can play minutes and support top liners.
On reasonable money I would extend him for a couple of years, the young props we had prior to Twal have not stepped up
 
It's always hard to expect anyone in another state or country to want to relocate if they don't have any original ties to Sydney. I saw/ heard the performance from Morgan Boyle against the Panthers. He was very impressive.
I believe he would be an excellent acquisition but If wasn't to happen I am taking a lot of confidence from the club In the type of players they are targeting and the team they are hoping to build by offering someone like Boyle a contract. Great signs!
 
Agree it's good we are targeting Boyle but a young player and only a 2 year deal is bad salesmanship and poor cap management. We have to take some chances with young players and it's less risky with strong physical forwards.
 
Reports are morgan boyle will be inking a new 3yr deal with his current club the titans. Leaves the tigers crap all to pick from now.
 
Some clubs are still back ending contracts. Hopefully it bites them sooner rather than later.

I hear they ended up offering him about the same as what we did, only over 3 years. I really hope we offer him a 3 year deal.

Re-signings wouldn't require a cooling off period would they? It's basically just for players switching clubs. If a player decides they want to stay where they are and their club offers them a deal which they accept, why the need to cool off?

I certainly wouldn't want Grant hanging around, increasingly redundant. Even ET i'm getting less sure about. He's no longer a lock, he falls off tackles and gives away silly penalties far too often.

We're still at least 3-4 signings away from being a possible top 8 side

Falls off tackles? Hes technique is good. Hes the only one than actually slows the ruck down so if he does give a penalty here and there so be it…

Nofoaluma waived his COP, that's how I remember it. So re-signing players have a COP, players being released from their club (like Connor Watson from Roosters) didn't, but do other players leaving a club (off-contract) going to another club have the COP?

I don't think so.

If worse comes to worse, this rebuilding doesn't have to be completed by 2018, and it would be an absolute miracle if it was. This will take a few years. A lot of the backs we got are on 2 year deals, (Fonua, Thompson, Milne, Lolohea, Gamble, even Brooks) so if they don't kick on, we can let them go and recruit someone better for 2020.

So if we don't get the most awesome team and win the GF in 2018, I can live with that, as long as I can see that we're moving closer to that goal, and I see some improvement in the meantime.
