Parramatta star Daniel Mortimer has been ruled out of Friday night's match-of-the-round against Wests Tigers at the Sydney Football Stadium with a virus.

The Eels five-eighth was spotted at the club’s Parramatta headquarters on Friday and will be replaced in the starting side by interchange utility Kris Keating.

Parramatta coach Daniel Anderson will name another bench replacement one hour before kickoff.

Tigers coach Tim Sheens is expected to trim Daniel Fitzhenry and Junior Moors from his six-man interchange bench.

Apart from Junior Moors being culled, this is very good news. I still dont understand why you would include a non-versatile player like Daniella on your bench.

Keating in the starting line up could be a positive.
last year him coming off the bench caused us a few headaches.

i think fitzy and daniella should have been dropped.
carrying a back on the bench is getting tired and wasteful.

fifta and Cayless will come on for the props and i think flannagan will come on for payton,rhino and ellis are 80 min players

Add to that we got guys that can cover positions on the field.

- Lawrence can cover centre, wing and fullback
- Tuqiri can cover wing and fullback
- Brown can cover centre, wing and fullback
- Moltzen can cover halfback, 5/8, centre and fullback
- Marshall, the same as Moltzen
- Payten can cover front or back row
- Ellis can cover the backrow and centres
- Even Farah can cover 7 if badly needed

So with all those players covering different positions, we dont really need a utility type player/back on the bench anyway, 4 specialist players will do and if there is an injury to someone, then someone is bound to be able to cover that position.

I know Ellis and Heighno are 80 minute players, but why not increase their quality by giving them a 20 minute break each (Therefore 40 minutes gametime from the number 17) so that it increases the work they do (Quality over quantity). If that happens Ellis may run the ball more, heighno may actually have some venom in his runs and not miss as many tackles on the inside if they do that.

Let flanagan be that person he can play centre or five eight.

We have a very mobile and versatile Team.

Many can slot into the Fwds and back if required through injury.

Some times in games agains bigger packs we should risk it with 4 Fwds IMO.
