Moses Mbye Super Duper Thread

He did what others have failed to do over the weeks…feed the backline and give the ball some air and the centres space…

1 memorable game recently doesn't justify his hefty price tag.

Tigers Management-

* Take the deal,
* Pay some freight
* Save at least half of the remainder of his contract
* Let the guy rebuild his career.

Honestly, I’d get Mbye off the books now as long as the Dragons were willing to pay around the $600K mark.

Realistically, if we were talking about this after the Titans loss, no one would bat an eyelid.

We need to clear funds for next year so we know what we’re working with and it’s a perfect opportunity to move him on now.

Maybe just pay the transfer fee for Hastings so he can start building combinations.

Not gonna happen .. the Tigers will have to pay a large amount of his salary before any club accepts him .. we'll be paying more like 3/4 of his salary.

It's who do we get in turn from the Dragons .. ?? surely we are not going to let him go without a replacement .. ??

Financially, Our hand isn't that strong and He is rumored to be on 950K odd next season.

Just think about the other players on somewhere around that money or Less

Jake T, Latrell, Adam Reynolds, Staggs, Cook

I'd let him go without a player.

For the right amount you let him go right. Its been reported we would pay half his salary next year. Surely if they pay 600k or something we let him go on the proviso he doesn't play against us.
We are long odds to make the finals and it give the youngens more game time

Dragons only want him as a bench player so they’re not going to sell their Leagues Club to secure him - you’ve got to question why Mbye decided to ‘have a go’ last weekend once the Dragons had made their move for him. Where has that commitment been hiding previously?
In any case he’ll be 14 at the Dragons so what will change for Mbye? He’s a 14 at best here.

With push coming to shove, and Dragons supposedly wanting him NOW, I think many here will start to realise the reality about Moses.

If you disregard how much he is being paid (thanks Ivan), he is very valuable to the team. Disregarding how well he played at 6 last week, literally if anyone goes down or fails at 1, 3, 4, 6 or (at a pinch)7, even 9 Mbye is probably close to first thought.

Yes but it is clear he is not in future plans, so best to move on and plan for the future when the opporunity is present. If anyone thinks this year is still a goer they are living in fantasyland.

damned if we do damned if we dont...
All the Mbye knockers cant wait to see the back of him, after last weeks game I can see why Madge wants to keep him...

source wide world of sport....

For Ben Hunt and you got yourself a deal

...kidding

Up until a couple weeks ago I would have said yes

But I really think we need him until we Atleast get Hastings...or maybe we could entice Hynes over early then

Hynes to leave a side with a shot at winning the premiership mid-season to come to us? Yeah, nah.

? yep we’re certainties ? according to many on here. I do admire their confidence though.
Mbye has said himself, “no point in having your best player sitting on the bench”
I’m just so happy to have someone listening to him ?
Oh , this is too funny.

Matt dufty?

Yes. I assume they’re pushing to have him right now so he can play fullback while Duffy is out long term.

The coach has to think differently. His position relies on performance. We all know we can't win but making the eight at this point is possible and for Maguire that has to be a goal as it would be for Griffin - hence why he wants Mybe now. Why strengthen them and weaken us? It's not so simple when there is still a way to go in this year.

Here is the article:

Moses Mbye offered immediate switch to Dragons but Wests Tigers set to block move

Moses Mbye has been offered the chance to join the Dragons immediately, yet Wests Tigers may block the move despite wanting him off the books for next season.

That's according to Sydney Morning Herald rugby league reporter Michael Chammas, speaking on Nine's 100% Footy. Mbye is being pursued as a bench utility, despite being on an $800,000 per season contract.

"He's been shopping himself around for 2022. The Tigers gave him permission to look around [for] next year," Chammas said.

"Now, the Dragons have expressed interest. They met with Moses Mbye and they've said to Moses, 'We could make you an offer, as long as you're willing to come right now'.

"Now, I think you'll find that his management has reached out to the Tigers to see if Moses Mbye could leave immediately. The Dragons want him as early as this week.

"But I think after last week, what we saw from the Wests Tigers, there's a reluctance from the club to let him go. That's a bit of a risk because I think you'll find privately, they do want Moses Mbye off the books for next year; but if they're not willing to take this offer from the Dragons right now, I think it's off the table."

Chammas said that Wests Tigers were prepared to pay $400,000 of Mbye's contract at another club for next season.

"I think the Tigers have said to Moses Mbye they're willing to pay up to half of that next year," Chammas said.

"I don't think this year though because they're two points outside the eight."

Mbye has played State of Origin for Queensland but has struggled to justify his hefty price tag at Wests Tigers; a fact that he's openly admitted. He has shuffled around in the Tigers line-up, playing five-eighth in Friday's win over Newcastle.

Wests Tigers are 13th on the NRL ladder but just one win from eighth place, while the Dragons are running sixth under new coach Anthony Griffin.

Dragons want him as early as this week according to Chammas. If we’re seriously considering this, it could make for an interesting team list Tuesday.

Dragons have been trying to get rid of Corey Norman for a while will tigers be stupid enough to agree to that swap?

We’re as dumb as any club there is, but even we’re not that stupid.

tough situation this one. I actually think if Moses puts himself in the shop window as a 6 he might end up as one in the future at a new club. might work out for both parties, except the dragqueens of course. at this stage we can't let him go. unless we managed to sign a centre mid season, I can't see it happening.

If they want him that badly they can pay the whole contract.

He's going there to play what position though? He'd be in the same boat there as he is with us.

Maybe Mbye is a future coach. Basically a coach needs to be a person manager not a good player. Certainly Mbye is average player at best and was a terrible captain.

There will be plenty of interest from other clubs for next year especially if we are paying half the contract. Why get rid of him now we won't get anyone better for this year.
