Moses or Martin?

Martin to Manly is my mail, so I vote Moses.

really? That would be a shame to lose Te Maire.

Would you rather have him languishing in NSW cup for the WT for the next 3-4 years?…or would you prefer him to potentially realise his potential as a footballer?...I know what I'd like....

I agree. However it's never nice seeing a kid with so much upside leave.

I thought the eagles were after the titans nyc halfback?

Prepared to cut Moses plenty of slack due to his age and early stages of development, although I don't quite see the same potential as some of the high profile commentators do…

You need a third option of 'both'.

We could easily try move one of Moses/Martin to another part of the backline. Our centres have been poor so far this season in the NRL.

Manly will be linked to every half off contract. Unlikely they would go for a rookie i would think. Maloney is very likely as the Roosters are moving him on… Then Hodkinson could be another likely option. They have a lot of money to spend on playmakers ready to hit the gruond running.

The value of having local boys playing for the club can't be underestimated either. That's one issue Manly faced as neither of their star halves were locals. Brooks and Moses are not only local boys and fans of the club, their childhood mates. These factors will increase our chances of them both re-signing.

Manly's halves felt little loyalty to an area which essentially meant nothing to them. Once a couple of the team's leaders/glue were gone they had nothing compelling them to stay.

Martin has also had a slow start to the year in NYC. He needs to prove he can deliver without Lio alongside him (although hopefully they'll be together in the NRL soon enough)

Manly will target establish halves first. Would not be surprised if they threw the sink at Hodkinson and Maloney/Carney.

Can't keep them both. Haven't seen much of Martin. Moses has been pretty quiet to start the yr, seems to have taken a back seat to Brooks and Tedesco. We're going to lose some of these young guys, we just gotta hope we keep the ones we want to keep

Absolutely. They have a war chest thanks to Foran and DCE. The idea they'd target a guy whose never played fg before when there are big name rep players on the market makes makes no sense. Think people are mistaking them for us

You cannot compare NSW Cup to playing 1st grade against the reigning premiers.

Half the threads created after a loss say you can. Someone on the forum wants to throw the SG ball team in every time a first grader drops a ball.

We have had potential stars in the making for years and all the talked up hype around them.
Jacob Miller
Jake Malloney
Blake Lazarus

To name a few, potential is a beautiful thing.

You cannot be serious comparing those 3 players with Brooks and especially Moses

That is like a motor car to a dinky toy.

The three of them had potential - yes. To be average footballers.

Moses is just a brilliant footballer with unlimited potential.

It is worth noting and I have said this a few times before.

They are not being allowed to play their natural game at the moment.
They are doing what the coach wants - don't put a downer on them for that.

Settle yourself down , at the time they were talked up as future stars the players i have mentioned .

I'm not comparing Brooks or Moses to these guys :unamused: , the fact of the matter is Brooks and Moses haven't done anything in 1st Grade yet , so for now they are still in the category of being judged as super stars by there potential.

Basically what i'm saying is we have had young players in the past being touted as future stars , nothing more nothing less.

We have signed Moses on big money from an early age. We are committed to him. Martin won't be replacing him anytime soon unless injury/suspension.

The problem with Moses and Brooks is they have been hyped us as once in a generational players since junior rep days from within and from outside the club and this hype has caused massive expectations from the punters. It also put their contract value way above where it should be while they are finding
their feet and this contract value virtually ensures them of first grade selection as you are not going to put your big contracted players in reserve grade. (That seems the case with our club and most others, they seldom drop high paid players)

Do not get me wrong both will be very good first graders and maybe super stars, but at present they are off the pace and the team is suffering because the six and seven are offering very little. My guess Taylor is willing to write off 2015 in order to get everything in order for 2016 and that has some merit but I just think you have to pick a side every week that gives the team the best chance to win.

Lets hope this first bit of flak the boys have received gets them primed up to put egg on people like me in the coming weeks

the other too were too long ago for me to remember the comments on the forum exactly.

but jacob miller was talked up as a good fill in to compliment benji marshall, at the time around 27 and 2 years after a top 4 finish and golden boot. to help benji recapture his form.

he wasn't heralded as the next joey johns or given even close to the same praise as brooks and moses (and for good reason). admitedly the forum might have gotten a little carried away, but i think most people knew he wasn't going to play origin or anything like that. at least based on his trajectory then, many players can fire later in their career like ben hunt

Ben Hunt is playing very well. He is what? 24? began to do well in first grade last year I believe. So he only debuted around age 22?

i made another post about how halves almost never come in and dominate at 19 years old.

DCE was in NSW Cup at 20, so was cooper cronk, JT played off the bench for 3 years so he would have been around 21 when he properly started. Ben hunt, like you mentioned, debuted around 21, 22\. Lockyer played of the bench for a year or two, but he started at fullback. even joey johns played of the bench in 94, but he is an exception playing in a strong team with a strong half (matty) helping him out. even then, he didnt even win rookie of the year

I am happy with their progress. I like that they are coming through together it will help with their confidence especially during times when they will need to support each other and rise above criticism. For me confidence and attitude can be the make or break of a player - Moses seems to have bucket loads, and I think being good mates this will help Brooks. Effectively they are boys transitioning to men. Their physical and mental strength needs time to adjust and develop to meet the standards of the top grade. All good for me so far.

My Personal Message to them both:

Brooks - Take the Tackle

Moses - Overrule and be selfish 2-3 times a game

Both will be stars!

Exactly right, Watto.
Brooks has got to take the tackle or go himself if he a pass isn't on.
He is throwing nothing passes that are coming unstuck way too often.
Moses looks like he's under directions to play for the team (which he does usually) but at the expense of trying anything himself.
Let the shackles off them both !
