For the horror fans out there, the Descent Part 2 is out on DVD and not too bad for a direct to DVD flick.

I thought it lacked character development as well for a film of that length and smaller cast. I can't see how it won all of the Oscars over Avatar.

Really, Dances With Smurfs? Visuals were excellent but the story was lackluster didn't you think? A bit like the star wars prequels. "Ooooh, look at the pretties".. not much satisfaction beyond that.

Although Avatar had the usual good vs evil, boy meets girl themes; its visuals were that much better than anything else. It was an experience and has changed how cinema will be viewed. Already there is a rush of 3D film.

Yeah thats the thing. It felt like a tech demo to me, using a common story arc done a million times before (Pocahontas, Dances With Wolves, Last Samurai) as a template. The technology that delivered the film was the only thing that excited me regarding Avatar.

Another decent horror flick which just came to DVD is the re-make of The Crazies.

inception….inception....and more inception. I used to hate dicaprio because of titanic but he is now one of my favourite actors since seeing inception

Avatar is one of the best movies ever made.

I would agree as far as revolutionary steps in film.

As a film though I found it one of the most boring, predictable and cliched pieces of clap trap since Babys Day Out. The visual experience was the only reason I sat through it

Have to agree.
I cringe when I hear 'best movie ever made' maybe best movie technology ever developed?
How can you compare it to: Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, Schindlers List etc.

Well maybe you should give this Pandora chick a call.

You never know your luck in a big city

My top favourite movies of all time are :
1\. Scarface
2\. The Godfather 1,2 & 3
3\. Goodfellas
4\. I am Legend
5\. Gladiator
6\. Avatar
7\. Gone in 60 Seconds
8\. Inception
9\. Book of Eli
10\. The Rock

Always watching anything with Simon Pegg in it. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Run Fatboy Run. He's an absolute guru, but the show that kicked him off is a real cracker, Spaced. If you can watch it because you won't stop laughing!

If you can laugh at that crap you'll laugh at anything.

Saw "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" last night and it was the bob-omb! Edgar Wright's fast paced and energetic style brought the graphic novels to life beautifully.. it is quite unlike anything else thats been released in cinemas recently. Michael Cera is terrific and shows a more than his usual nervous socially-awkward man-child schtick. Supporting cast is dead on too, the characters from the books truly in the flesh.
