AD if he can sort his defense out will be a brilliant 6, if he doesn’t he will struggle. He also needs to go right to left otherwise teams will work it out.

I reckon AD has the making of a brilliant ball playing lock. He is only 22/23 and a big frame just all lean muscle. If he gets a physich like Twal. Look out!

Only issue for me is he needs alot of work on his defensive movement to play lock. I see what you mean ball play wise just not on the more important aspect for a lock though.

Not just defensive movement. His defensive contact as well. Which I what I meant by if he builds up more.
No doubt he’ll have a couple of seasons as a five eight but I see a similar transition to Isaah Yeo is possible with him but that took plenty of time for him to find a home at lock.

Simpkin in for Mbye and TPJ in for garner immediately improves that team exponentially.

Failing Tevita, Tuilagi has earned a debut in my view. Garner is quickly becoming a dead end option.

Bring on the younger stars

Thought Pauga was good, first game and up against Staggs was never going to be easy, tried hard and never gave up in defence or attack which is why he scored on debut

Doueihi is a 5/8. He's a primary ballplayer, has a great pass, run and kicking game. You want him to have the ball making decisions. I don't see him as a lock, that's more a speedy, physical ball runner type who tackles all day and wants more. Doueihi is craft and poise. Munster, fittler, Widdop, Walker, Lockyer were/are either slower or around same speed as doueihi. The problem with him at centre or lock is you want him with the ball making the decisions, that's why it was frustrating watching him at centre, that's why he's a 5/8.

I think the time at centre was good for his development though, he was much more aware about creating space for others today. Laurie had his best game at the club and that was due to the work of AD. I have been critical of him not making the players around him better, today he did that. If he continues to do that over the next few weeks it will also improve his running game.

What do they do with hastings next year if AD cements his spot at 5/8? Does Hastings go to 13 as they originally discussed or 14?

Yep, I agree the time at centre helped him. I hope it was planned that way.

Hopefully we can offload Mbye and keep Hastings as a utility. I'd prefer to keep AD in the halves.

You obviously don’t watch the Panthers and Roosters and the amount of ball playing Yeo and Radley do.
I’m liking him at five eight for now. But the reason why I’d like him at lock is so he has more access to the ball then just in a backline sweep.

I think that there are no more if's left about Adam's position, he looked good enough at 5/8 before and looks even better now, a very smart and composed player.

I think he just has to work on his game. I reckon you could also play him at centre and he can play that same game.

I prefer him at 6 but next year we have Hastings as well.

It's a pity that Liddle don't keep the ball going after Tuki's first offload instead of getting caught with the ball, that's how the top teams are playing by keeping the ball alive.
Tuki has a great offload lets utilise it.

I watch them. They're not throwing cut out balls, being primary or secondary kickers, setting backlines. Their go is running to the line as first receiver with short passing game. They're terrific distributors, it's what we lack at the position, but they're not 5/8s and the positions aren't interchangeable. While they have some craft and intelligence to their play, they're not playmakers like Luai or Walker. Doueihi is the player you want organising attacking movements. Radley and Yeo are players who move where their halves want them. I just think doueihi's game is suited to the classic 5/8 role. Why do you want him at lock? He's not a particularly strong defender and playing him more in the middle will limit the best part of his attack. I think he could do the role, but I just don't see it as making him or the team stronger.

Maybe a future transition. But you make a good point as to the style of play of the modern day lock being more distribution role and not a finisher. Doueihi is certainly better in the 2nd receiver role in a position to finish or set up the final play.
Happy to wait and see how it all plays out. One things for sure his currently our best 5/8.

We all should remember Joey Manu had issues with his defence when he came into the NRL. Centre is a tough position in which to defend. Pauga will learn from this and improve.

Not at all but the only reason you get rid of someone is if there 1. A problem or
2.you have better.I don’t think any of those applied o Momo

A mixture of good and bad, AD looked good , as did the spine. The forwards are improving and Steff looks a future star, our backline defence is terrible. LL is at last being used in the right way, but it's hard to judge the future based on this game.
