Liddle has played very well last 4 weeks definitely earned his place and is a first grade hooker.
Twal is very under rated he is killing it.
Blore is the one I have issues with is he a myth ?? or does he just need more minutes. He seems to be the most over rated player on the forum.

Blore is an interesting one. Take out his debut where he stood up to Brown, and there’s not much else. I feel like he’s lived off that to a degree

I think he is starting to come along, I thought he looked much better on Friday and was running good lines of Brooks.

He looked like Talau...
Physically not playing ability wise.

Could only tell them a part by the leg strapping Blore had.

But yeah, too early to judge.
Break out game was good and just OK since.
Early days.

I don't think he is getting enough minutes at the moment to really shine. He looks a little underdone to me.

Talau and Blore so much alike always have to look twice when they are on the field.

I can pretty much guarantee that Blore will go through what Garner & others have
from us supporters. That is, get hounded and bagged for not being good enough as he learns the ropes. But given time amongst a stable and close knit team, he'll come out a very, very good player.

just watched the highlights again, does anyone else see how much laurie milks the penalties:
- the tackle from kikau when in the air, as soon as roberts grabs kikau he is up and ready to go
- the panthers no try, laying down after the tackle without the ball

it's good to see someone with so little NRL experience already know how to play the system all the other guys are playing so well, probably something we have lacked for a while

I’d be delighted if we rescue a first grade winger out of the shell of James Roberts, and from what I’ve seen so far it looks possible that it might happen. But if he was Robert James, a 24 year old reserve grader, and he’d had the season he’s had for us so far I guarantee virtually no-one would be defending him on here.

But isn't that the point? He's not Robert James the reserve grader who has never proved himself at a high level. He is James Roberts who has demonstrated he can be an elite athlete, among the game's best. His demons have got to him in the past but if he can stay on the right track we know what he's capable of.

Blore is a kid and he will only impove, his season was delayed by injury and that is also a factor in his development

I agree 4life living of belting Brown at present
I see a few Blore fanboys on here though.
Hope we are wrong

Actually Friday was the 1st time I've seen him really get used with the ball .....ok without being great

I think Garner deserves a lot of wraps.

First few rounds he looked diabolical, was dropped to the bench (deservedly) but since then I think he has been our most improved player. Hitting hard in defence, runs a great line and has had to fill in at centre mid game for the last few games. Becoming a player I would be disappointed to lose to another club.

Have to agree on Laurie. While he’s definitely good, if you read the forum without watching our games, you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s in the class of Walker and Walsh.

Out of curiosity, why are you surprised about Doueihi? The guy is a gun.

Whats to say laurie isnt in the class of walker or walsh?

Because i’ve seen all 3 of them.

So have I - Walker is in a class of his own imo.

It is imo too early to call on Joseph Suaalii, looked quite good against Canberra though.

However at this stage from what I have seen (have said previously that Laurie has a bit to work on) Laurie is a better FB than Walsh (who I think has been vastly over rated to this point, he may turn into a champion but....)

From what I have seen of Walsh he is a one trick pony that has not mastered that trick as yet i.e. throwing long cut out balls - I've seen the 4 he has thrown so far (all forwards passes by the way, that he got away with) but that is just luck. He also looks like a bit of a wanker (the other three do not seem to have that trait), also being suspended already after a few games for foul play is not a good look.

My two cents GNR. You may turn out to be correct.

Walsh is also the worst of the serial divers. We copped it for Laurie doing it but Walsh did it against us at least 3 times

Liddle is one of the best young hookers out there. Sure Grant is in a class of his own but Liddle and Robson for me are the only ones that come close to him out of the younguns (under 25yrs)

His defense is great, good service (albeit a lil rusty at times), and great pace when he needs to turn it on.

Have been very happy to see him finally get some game time

Liddle Mahoney

But Mahoney is getting a lot of shine in the media, talked up for origin, etc.

Grant is #1 though, he's on another level.

Mahoney has been the best hooker this year and will probably win Dally M hooker of the year.

His D and service has been exceptional with a few kicks in between. He's also done it for 2-3 years now.

Grant has had one good year and if he follows it up, then yep he's on another level for sure. I can't imagine him dropping his standards though.

Agree with OP about Laurie though. I think he's very good but nowhere in the class of Walker/Walsh, however class isn't everything. Consistency is key and I feel Laurie will consistently give us more than 6/10 performances.

The best thing about Laurie is he has solved what was a massive problem for us...safety under the high ball.

Have only seen him drop one all season and he was under a fair bit of pressure.

He's also James Roberts, three years removed from being a game changing player, unwanted by other clubs, clearly unfit and with a history of substance abuse that while I'm not going to judge him for morally could certainly mean his body isn't in the shape it ought to be even at 28. On the basis of six games at centre that peaked at anonymous and two on the wing that peaked at serviceable I'm certainly more inclined to think we've got 2019-20 Roberts than the earlier version.

Frankly, if you're judging Roberts on what he has done for the Tigers the *best* you can say is that he hasn't played so badly that we should totally give up on dreaming that he could recapture some fraction of a talent that we haven't seen since at least 2018. I'd be more inclined to look at what he's actually done on the field and say he was maybe a worthwhile punt on a small contract but so far that punt isn't paying off.

@bigsiro Nice summary.

I disagree with a few points though as people with opinions always do.
1. Laurie is IMO better than advertised. Most people when referring to Laurie focus on the offensive side of the ball. To me, that is his weakest area (it is improving). The area that makes him impressive is his defensive componenets. He is very good under the high ball, his positional play is way better than most fullbacks at this early stage and his defensive reads are really good. Id say i have seen him make a 10 or so try savers already this year.

11. Garner most improved player imo
14 Joffa has been really impressive again IMO. Hits hard in defense and is making solid meters when running avg 111m a game.

Laurie doesn't possess the same skillset as Walker and Walsh, but his willingness and bravery is up there with Hodgo's. he's clearly a hard worker, for that reason he may end up a better player than Walsh, just out of sheer desire.

as for Blore, I thought last week was his best game. I think a lot of people are hard on him, he has played very little football these past two years, and is only going to get better with time. I know it doesn't mean anything in the big time, but he is one of the most decorated junior footballers of the past 5 years. Australian Schoolboys captain, Jersey Flegg premiership winning captain, was in the Emerging Blues squad in ***2018*** before he had even debuted. trust me, he is the real deal. our forward pack is very much set in stone for the next few years and Blore will be at the centre of it.

Fair.

Agree.

Except Twal, he's doing so much for the pack.
He's been huge.
But always room for improvement.

Thanks for taking the time to write that.
Lesgooooo ??

Twal has been relentless in the middle. He has done these sorts of minutes and metres in the past. Some seasons he burns out trying to keep that up for all games.

He's a gun,
Our best forward easy but the rest of the pack has been sharp as of late.
It's good to see.

Twal is great.
Seriously always has a go.

He is good but the problem is you need guys like Stef and Mikaele and Musgrove to give you that impact.

I think Twal will be better if we can get the balance of the pack right. I reckon Seyfarth and Stef offer more and have a bigger impact.

LL is our best forward though.

He definitely reminds me of Hodgo:
Light frame,
gets smashed yet keeps going,
very deceptive,
safe.

Reminds how good Hodgo was. He was so accomplished. What a classy fullback.
