Agree with OP about Laurie though. I think he's very good but nowhere in the class of Walker/Walsh, however class isn't everything. Consistency is key and I feel Laurie will consistently give us more than 6/10 performances.

Laurie >>> Duffy, Edwards, Staines, Burton
We got the best FB from the Panthers

his willingness and bravery is up there with Hodgo's.

He definitely reminds me of Hodgo:
Light frame,
gets smashed yet keeps going,
very deceptive,
safe.

Reminds how good Hodgo was. He was so accomplished. What a classy fullback.

Sure does. How good was hodgo, 2005 oh how good that was. I’ve been blown away by Laurie and how good he has been only a handful of games into his career. He has no fear. Takes the dirty hit ups. As he slowly builds more combinations with the halves I think we will see his attacking game go to the next level. I also see a bit of Ben barba in him.

Fair.

Agree.

Except Twal, he's doing so much for the pack.
He's been huge.
But always room for improvement.

Thanks for taking the time to write that.
Lesgooooo ??

Twal has been relentless in the middle. He has done these sorts of minutes and metres in the past. Some seasons he burns out trying to keep that up for all games.

He's a gun,
Our best forward easy but the rest of the pack has been sharp as of late.
It's good to see.

Twal is great.
Seriously always has a go.

He is good but the problem is you need guys like Stef and Mikaele and Musgrove to give you that impact.

I think Twal will be better if we can get the balance of the pack right. I reckon Seyfarth and Stef offer more and have a bigger impact.

LL is our best forward though.

Twals leg speed the last couple of weeks has been phenomenal. If he starts looking for an offload he will be our best easily. Doubted him at the start of the year but he is looking fit and running like the old twal.

Geez we put a lot of pressure on our players to perform well instantly. Garner is a great example of where sticking with them pays off.

Blore, Laurie, Douhei, Talau, Stefano, LIddle will all be gun players in 2-3 years time..I just hope we keep them all!

Laurie and Hodgo are very similar. They are both awesome players but probably not going to be big stars. Comparing him to Hodgo makes you think about how good Laurie could be.

1. Daine Laurie - I think he is a bit over-rated on here but been very safe, good back-up player and speedy.
2. David Nofoaluma - excellent so far in attack. Every team would take him. Brings ball out so well. Defensively he still makes bad calls.
3. Adam Doueihi - surprisingly really good this year. Please bring back the spirals@@
4. Tommy Talau - Hasn't done enough. Sorry.
5. James Roberts - needs to come looking for the ball more, been a lot better lately. Keeper.
6. Moses Mbye - found his place at 5/8. Nowhere near his price tag but has shown glimpses of class lately. If we keep winning, keep him there. Later on I'd drop him and try others as he is leaving.
7. Luke Brooks - great last two games but long kicking game still awful and needs to stop dumping to Twal on penultimate play. Improved but!
8. James Tamou - I really don't know. Certainly not the rampaging prop he once was, but we knew he'd be like this. So um......good!
9. Jacob Liddle - Jury still out I reckon.
10. Alex Twal - workhorse but becoming too predictable/ boring in attack. Needs to find the offload more.
11. Luke Garner - Easy player to like. Runs good lines. Definite keeper.
12. Luciano Leilua - Still penetrating despite being marked heavily lately. Really like LL!
13. Alex Seyfarth - Becoming impossible to demote/drop. Big heart, big potential.
13. Joe Ofahengaue - A bit 1 dimensional but he does that dimension pretty well. Solid, without being great.

14. Stefano Utoikamanu - Dayum! This guy could be anything!
15. Shawn Blore - Needs more minutes
16. Tom Amone - Needs more minutes
17. Thomas Mikaele - Love this guy's aggression. Missing a certain something. Keeper but!.
18. Joey Leilua - Yeah Nahhh. You know you're out of form when Talau is beating you to a centre position.

Need to do another list focussed on defence after watching some of the tries we concede. Too many players being judged by their efforts with the ball. We are not a bad team in this department.

Have to agree on Laurie. While he’s definitely good, if you read the forum without watching our games, you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s in the class of Walker and Walsh.

Out of curiosity, why are you surprised about Doueihi? The guy is a gun.

Whats to say laurie isnt in the class of walker or walsh?

Because i’ve seen all 3 of them.

De gustibus non est disputandum.?

The way we are writing Talau off makes me laugh. He's going to be so damn good soon. If he was surrounded by other good players he already would be. Imagine how good he'd look at the Roosters. I hope we are one day the sort of club that can bring good young players through without expecting them to solve all our problems instantly.

We have some seriously good young talent with Talau, Kepaoa, Uto, Blore, Mikaele et al.

Talau has played 27 games for us, more than a season and he seems to be getting worse. He has had enough time. This IS how good he is, and its not good enough.

Agree, I thought he was below average last year but he’s plunged to new depths this year. Slow as a tug boat and has dick fingers.

How long is soon?
He should be learning the game in reserves, he just seems to be content to be seen in FG, nothing else?
He will be gone next season when Gildart comes.

Can,t wait to Gildart comes, Talau gone. Just one more agressive forward, another strike centre, and a classy FB, and with our young pack improving we will be on the way to a big future.

Wow, give the kid a chance. I understand the frustration that is currently being felt, but like most good things in life; it is a long game and not short term.
We have been rubbish since Tim left & changing coaches every two years is no way to develop a culture or team.
We have Madge & if we are smart we will stick to me, bring the likes of Tim & Brett in to help will only make us better. We seem to be getting the back office in shape (forget what Fox is reporting, remember the media survive on bad news & shock value. As a old mate of mine (who was a sub editor at SMH) if it bleeds it leads.
I agree we have a lot of good YOUNG talent that will take time to mature, but thinking a 20 year old is rubbish at 20 is ridiculous, Talua will come good, talent is never lost.
I have been following the tigers since 68 (9 year old when Dad took me to Leichardt oval) & I always seem to have a great week when we win & the reverse when we lose, but remember it is only footy.

For what it’s worth …. Here’s my take on current player standings:

Daine Laurie - I agree good back-up player and speedy. Think he may end up in halves or on the flank.

David Nofoaluma - yes good in attack defence atrocious. Very slow learner. Back of the class with dunce hate on.

Adam Doueihi - yes … He is really good this year. Good utility.

Tommy Talau - On current form on L plates …. Should be earning his stripes in reserves. Pity we didn’t trade with Storm.

James Roberts - Our invisible man. Keeper?..? Am afraid could be failed experiment.

Moses Mbye - found his place at 5/8 but at his price Not star material. Should leave ASAP.

Luke Brooks - great last two games but long kicking game still awful and needs to stop dumping to Twal on penultimate play. Improved but! Agree ….. after all this time and the Jury still out.

James Tamou - Average at best. Expected more. Time for pasture with a nose bag. Failed experiment.

Jacob Liddle - Hot and cold.

Alex Twal - agree with every word. workhorse but becoming too predictable/ boring in attack. Needs to find the offload more. Keeper.

Luke Garner - Not for me …. bench only. Trade if possible.

Luciano Leilua - Still penetrating despite being marked heavily lately. Keeper.

Alex Seyfarth - Becoming impossible to demote/drop. Big heart, big potential. Yep our future.

Joe Ofahengaue - A bit 1 dimensional but he does that dimension pretty well. Solid, without being great. Agree. Keeper.

Stefano Utoikamanu - Dayum! This guy could be anything! Our future.

Shawn Blore - Keeper but this is not the year we should judge him on.

Tom Amone - Needs more minutes. 50:50 depending on rest of season form.

Thomas Mikaele - Love this guy’s aggression. Missing a certain something. Keeper but!. Yep …. Agree.

Joey Leilua - Yeah Nahhh. Enough said. Failed experiment.

Russel Packer. Wow we should got value out of this bloke. Pathetic.

Asu Kepaoa - Keeper. Next year is his make or break year.

Billy Walters - Nice Guy but not what we need. Time to see dad before he gets the flick at Broncs.

Jock Madden - next year should be his test. Hopefully break out year.

Ken Maumalo - have great hope for this guy. If he regains some of his past good form then he locks none of our wing spots.

Reece Hoffman - Still young and on L plates. On development contract so still with us next year. Time will tell.

Zac Cini - showed glimpse of form this year. Another that needs to step up next year to show his worth.

William Kei - struggling in lower grades by all reports. Also on development contract so next year?

Kerman Tuilagi - outstanding form in lower grades. We just need to take him slowly so to retain his confidence levels.

Michel Chee Kam - Looks like Tarzan … plays like Jane. He won’t be here much longer.

Tukimihia Simpkins - started season well in lower grade but he’s enthusiasm has waned somewhat. Still young so?

Zane Musgrove - Invisible man Mk.3 … expected so much more from this guy to show for his limited on field time.

Jake Simpkin - stuttering start to his first grade debate season. Perhaps given time too early as bit of self confidence has disappeared from his game. Expect improvement as he’s great talent.

If he was at another club, surrounded by good players he'd still be making the same stupid mistakes every game.
Other teams put you back in reggies to fix it ... in his case we keep giving him chance after chance based on potential.
He's only young so reggies won't be the end of him... if he improves.
