What message is Maguire sending to his players about form and consistency in selections?

Previous game you fail in leadership 101. I get it JL is difficult but Mbye should have taken charge. Really poor from such an experienced player.

Mbye should have been dropped for this game.

There’s no one to replace him with! I’m not sure why everyone who’s saying this doesn’t understand that - plus he’s only had one poor game all year. Hoffman/Talau on an edge together would be a nightmare.

I suggested Lawrence and Hoffman on the left. Talau to right centre.

There appears to be no worse nightmare than a Captain who won't tackle and won't lead. It is not a failure of the men but that of leadership.

Have you seen Talau defend at centre? He’s worse than that one game from Mbye. Fact is Mbye had one poor game defensively before that he didn’t let in one try. It’s an overreaction to say he won’t tackle and our back line is a lot stronger this way, Talau has been too good on the wing to drop and Hoffman looked shaky

Let him experience it and understand where he has to improve. Do the names Chris Lawrence and Andrew Ettingausen ring a bell? Ettinghausen couldn't tackle when he came into grade but became the best defensive centre in Aust as well has having great pace.

Mbye lost us the game, 4 missed tackles 4 tries. Disgraceful captaincy the previous game. That he hasn't been sacked is a huge mistake. Although they may not say it openly, other players will be looking at Marshall, Brooks and co and their treatment and wondering how the golden child remains. It's alright to be tough in soft situations but Maguire has failed bigtime.

Hoffman was left posted by Mbye who knew he was a debutant and failed to watch out for him. Chris Lawrence would have bled to ensure the young man was protected. Not captaincy material.

Mate, we need to win games not give the kid a chance to learn how to defend in a crucial game of the season. Hoffman is not a first grader at the current time and if we can put Talau in his spot our entire backline is a lot stronger. We are struggling without Joey as it is.

If we had a decent replacement for Mbye I would be happy to see him dropped but at this point in time we can’t afford to put a rookie in over him.

Hoffman is and was not up to first grade on the wing. Brooks had some bad reads and so did Mmbye. Previously Mmbye has defended great all year.
We have no other options for the centres at this stage so he keeps his spot. If this was consistently bad defence then we have an issue it was a one off game. Inwould be more concerned with Walters defence as Brooks defends better than him usually. I think part of the problem last week was a gifted player in Latrell chiming in to the backline. Before people start Latrell is a good footballer and he would make a difference to our team if he was at centre.
Douhie's positional play with kicks is not great but no calls for him to be moved or dropped as we do not have any other options.
Alex Johnston at the right price would be a great pick up for wing next year and getting Momo back he can play centre with Joey L and keep Talau on the other wing and we can work out if Mmbye is a 6 or a super sub or we simply dont play him.

There are three people to blame for the defensive issues , Hoffman for not knowing that you follow your centre no questions asked ....Maguire for not explaining that or Mbye for not telling him he was going

I'm gonna blame Hoffman , but Mbye misses his man which is his fault ...we haven't see these issue with Talau
