My view on Mick Potter

He just needs to be left alone to do his job. He has been under scrutiny for 2 years.

I know I couldn't do my job if I thought my company was gunning for me unless I produced impossible results.

Rubbish way to treat a bloke and has probably contributed to some of the results this season.

Our injury toll is hideous again as well.

Look at the facts….he has taken us from 15th to 8th, despite another massive injury toll and with a rookie 7 and several major deficiencies in our roster.

We have beaten all the top teams.....ffs what does he need to do?

Its the first time in decades we are playing a brand of football I AM PROUD OF. Sometimes we get beat but u can never say we haven't put in.................

It's impossible for anyone to say how good he is based on results.

He has had two seasons and there has been improvement. We have got up against some highly fancied sides.

But the same things keep letting us down. It all boils down to consistency. The players keep losing penalty counts and they keep dropping the ball. On the Triple M coverage Paul Gallen identified that we suck at defending back to back sets and he's right. Not only do we give away penalties, but they lead to tries way too often. It's all lack of focus, and the net result of having a slow side, and an inexperienced one. Inexperienced sides need to be inspired to keep their focus on the task at hand. As soon as the mind wanders then the ball hits the deck. It doesn't just STICK like it always does for the experienced sides.

We've had a LOT of injury concerns and he can't be blamed for that. That would be effecting the side in a big way. If we were able to keep the same team on the park all year we of course would be performing better. This is the variable that clouds any judgement you can make from the outside.

When this team let the ball do the talking, they have shown they are more than a match for everybody. That means Mick Potter's job is simply TWO THINGS. To inspire the players and to do research to arm the players.

Mick Potter IS A VERY VERY GOOD MAN. He is respectful, polite, honest and incredibly nice. During the post match press conference he stopped in the middle of it, almost in tears, to make sure he paid respect to the Dragons performance. That takes some serious nobility. If he's so nice, then it's not through a personality clash that he could be having any issues with anyone at the club, player or not, because he's just way too likeable.

If there are issues at the club from within the playing group then it's because he isn't getting the calls on the training paddock right. He's not arming the players with the right information and he's not getting selections right.

A hard man like David Kidwell is not the answer either. They need someone with Mick Potter's character, but the footy brain to match. I won't speculate about who is right for the job but at the end of the day if the players don't respond to him, he simply isn't.

I hate the way it has played out but hard decisions need to be made right now because we are at the cusp of a dynasty and we have to get the mix right now. It appears as though more than a vocal minority think Mick Potter isn't the right person to create that mix, and as fans all we can do is assume they are right rather than speculate.

Robbie Farah is within his rights to have an opinion on the ability of his coach. He shouldn't have text messaged Gordon Tallis to tell him, but Tallis should not have shared a private text message with the world. Robbie Farah shouldn't be hated for having an opinion. If this all went on behind closed doors and the net result was one simple action that revealed Mick Potter was leaving, replacement named and it was because the players weren't responding to him and it was left at that then we would all shrug and move on. We should do just that, rather than going off the rails. As fans, especially fans that are starting to get quoted in mainstream newspapers like the Sydney Morning Herald, we need to start thinking more about what our posts on this little forum are doing to the side. We have a voice too.

Mate shut the hell up. You dont even have the facts right about the Farah and Tallis issue, take some panadol and get over it. Its the same crap in every thread.

" Tiger in the Gong" telling " MacDougall" to shut up is a bit much isn't? He's only stating his opinion and putting across his viewpoint, just like we all do on this forum. Enjoy it for what it is.

I like Potter and think he has been so wrongly treated….

okay so Potter has a stay of execution until the end of the year....IMO the damage is done...either way there has to be a change of coach for 2015 and beyond....If this were to play out I think the club should dump ALL 3 coaches and appoint Laurie Daley as our Head Coach..Daley would be great for the up and comers, he has proven he can coach and we already know Farah has a man crush on him...so no dramas there....
