Mystery Prop????

How can we possibly be finished in our recruitment 'drive' for this year?

We'll be losing Halatau, Payne, Galea, Collis and Morris, who all (perhaps bar Collis) would have been on contracts worthy of regular first graders. They've been replaced with two promising youngsters (Daniella/Brown) and an injury prone winger on match payments (Tupou). How can we possibly be at the cap?

I think there will be a forward signing to be announced yet. There is still no official word on Payne, Galea, Trimarchi and Halatau re-signing. This to me says we may be withholding some cash for one more signing before promoting a couple of the State Cup players.

Why would the CEO state otherwise?

To spring us all a big surprise??

Oh yeh, thats it….just like that story on the website earlier in the year when farah was in contract negotiations, great big heading ''FARAH RE-SIGNS''....but it was a lame story about the membership drive.

**AIM** being the key word in the statement by WT, it doesn't say guaranteed. Either way id be happy with Sims in our playing roster and looks to be the only option left with Ross going to the bunnies

**New Zealand Representative Signs For 2 Years.**

Dene Halatau has re-signed for a further 2 years….. :astonished: nooooooooooooooooooooooo

Where has this been published? Very ordinary decision if it's true.

In this week's Big League, Dene has stated that a deal with Wests Tigers is very close to being done….also said he is back from injury next week, earlier than expected.....but said it might be hard getting back into the squad because of how well all the lads are plating

A waste of space and money. Looks like some of us who have been pre-emptive in who will go and who will stay have been way off the mark. Maybe we really don't have too many coppers in the kitty after all.

if halatau re-signs it will be another case of sheens' ego & favouritism getting in the way of the clubs future.
it will be even worse when he starts getting picked in firsts again so we have 2 small men on the bench.

Matt Scott is off the list. He just re-signed with the Cowboys:

Matt Scott signs new deal with Cowboys
August 13, 2009 - 3:02PM

Maroons prop Matt Scott has signed a new four-year with North Queensland Cowboys, the NRL club have announced.

Scott has been with the Cowboys for six years and has represented Queensland in their successful 2006 and 2009 Origin campaigns.

"I'm stoked, really excited," Scott said.

"We have a great coaching staff and player roster here and I am really looking forward to the next four years."

Cowboys Executive Director Peter Parr said he was pleased to be retaining the services of the 24-year-old prop.

"Matt is a high quality State of Origin front rower who has his best football in front of him," Parr said.

Cowboys hooker Anthony Watts has also agreed to extend his contract for an additional year

I'm not seeing a prop mentioned anywhere on this board that makes me even the slightest bit more excited about our prospects than the guys we currently have on the roster.

Penrith's Woolnough retires from NRL
August 19, 2009 - 2:17PM

Penrith prop Adam Woolnough has announced his retirement from the NRL at the age of 27 and with a year still to run on his contract.

Woolnough, who played 131 NRL games for Newcastle and Penrith after debuting for the Knights in 2002, made the decision to quit rugby league after losing his passion for the game.

"I've decided there are other things I want to do personally and other things that my wife Bec and I want to do together," said Woolnough.

"I know that I'm only 27 but to achieve those goals I wouldn't mind doing it now when I am still young."

Panthers coach Matthew Elliott said he supported Woolnough's decision to quit in the midst of Penrith's attempt to qualify for the NRL finals.

Woolnough has managed just six NRL games in 2009, his last coming in the round 21 draw with the Warriors.

"I have a heap of respect for the decision that Adam has made and the honesty in making that decision," Elliott said.

"Adam could have continued on with the club with his heart and head not in the right place making up the numbers in the team but he made the decision to retire to pursue other priorities in his life."

He made the right decision.I would'nt want him at the tigers

So sam burgess is the top of the list for every club next year but is there even anybody else on that list? i dont count skando, trimarchi, payne, galea or even payten as part of my 2010 team atm.. so that leaves heigno galloway ellis gibbs (sadly) and just maybe laurie so we need more forwards.. big ones that run fast! haha and then fill in gaps on the bench with galea or payten

rumour has jeff lima linked to us, would be a very handy pick up, he is looking to leave melb and head back to syd for family reasons
