Naiqama - Re-Signs till 2018..

I don't think Taga or Thompson are really better than Grant. I'd keep Grant and Naiqama if possible.

Thompson did play for us once upon a time..
I wouldnt be going down that path again, imo we havent missed him

Thompson vs ET, i wouldnt even think about Thompson

Too many times we see players put in a few good ones, and then
Soon after the new contract is signed, revert to their old form . again. He's had a long time to play well and impress people.
He's had his chances and his crap defence has been too bad to overlook,
Better ways to spend the money,
And he can take Grant as well

2 guys havent been given contracts from the FG team so far

Tim Grant and Kevin Naiqama

Grant knows he is playing for a contract so in recent weeks has put in an effort to be noticed on field. For a little while he had become complacent and comfortable

Naiqama on the other hand has been a lot more consistent. Tries to play the best he can each week and i havent seen any him try to impress anyone and over playing his football. If anyone i'd re-sign him first of the current stock.
Like many have mentioned, he is very handy back up for the back line.

Grant has an option in his favor for next year.

Off topic but related to comments made in this thread: Tagataese has signed with Manly for 2 years, so we won't be spending our money there…

Solid game and gives a 100% each time he plays. Yes he has errors in him but **show me anyone in our side that doe not.**

I believe he would benefit from a off season under Cleary and improvements in the teams defence will also translate to Kevin also improving. He fixes that and his offence is excellent so we get a player who is keen to play for us and will add value.

Alex Twal..

I've changed my mind on Kevin ..has been very consistent in the past 6 weeks or so..He is an above ISP level player …not a superstar First Grader but better than a lot..His attack is good and his defence has improved in recent times..Would give him another Year...added he can also cover fullback..

Agree with all of that. He's also a high character bloke, as evidenced by the wonderful generosity he showed towards Danielle, the young cancer sufferer, on Sunday. Definitely sign him up!

As it looks like Rona is staying with the Rah Rahs I think Kevie should be given a new Opal card he has improved immensely in the last few weeks and always gives 100% he seems to relish playing against other Fijian boys it was quite noticeable he stopped Uate quite a few times last week and can cover a few positions in the backline.

I'd still get rid of him. He tries hard but will never be a quality first grader. I'd want a backup who can potentially do more. Kev has already peaked and will always be an inconsistent first grader.

He could get more gametime in the UK, can't see him playing much NRL at all next season, for any club.

And he can always defer his tafe course and do it later, Or just pay the $1000 again down the track if needs be. Not a major obstacle at all

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the re-signing of Kevin Naiqama for the coming season.

The new agreement will see Naiqama remain at Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2018 NRL season.

Naiqama has taken to the field 69 times for Wests Tigers since joining the club for the start of the 2015 season.

The 28-year-old said he was pleased to be extending his time at Wests Tigers into a fourth season.

“I really like where the club is heading, the football that we’ve been playing under Ivan over the last month or so shows what we can do when we’re competing for the whole 80 minutes,” said Naiqama. “I love the direction that the club is heading, with got some big signings coming for next year and I just wanted to be a part of that.

“It’s been great to be able to be here for the last couple of years. I love the club, this year is my third here and I’m stoked to be able to extend my stay at Wests Tigers,” he said.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said he looked forward to working with Naiqama over the coming season.

“Kevin has shown great versatility for the team this year covering a number of positions and has handled himself exceptionally well,” said Cleary.

“He continues to work tirelessly on his game and I look forward to seeing him continue to develop as a player in the coming year.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said Naiqama’s impact on the club extends beyond what he does on the field.

“Time and time again we’ve seen that Kevin is an outstanding young man who continues to put the team and organisation before himself,” said Pascoe.

“In recent weeks some of his work outside of the game has come into the spotlight and we’re proud to have him as a part of the Wests Tigers.

“We’re building a very strong squad here and the re-signing of Kevin is another part of that."

He's a good bloke but I want a good player….maybe I'm being a little harsh but I can't help feel that way.

Anyhow congrats Kev

Good job. It will be good to have Kev on the books . He's a cut above the SC guys and can cover all spots in the outside backs if needed.

Well deserved. Worked his backside off over the second half of the season and has easily been our most improved player. Won't be in our strongest 17, but he and Grant are more than sufficient depth options.

Depth
Need it- he can cover fb/c/w and will hold his own. If he is regularly in the starting line up next year we're in a bit of trouble…..
