1\. When Souths are doing well, rugby league is doing well
2\. Ray Warren is the best caller in the game
3\. The SCG is a good place to watch league

Just wondering who you think is a better caller than Rabs Yoss?
Personally I can't imagine the game without him, but thats just my opinion.
Who do you rate as a better caller? Voss, Hadley, Moore, Smith, Braybrook, Raymond?

I think I saw you bag Voss below but IMO he is a massively better commentator than Rabs. I'd also rate nearly all the Foxtel commentators as superior. I just get sick of the grandstanding, pointless and manufactured arguments with Phil Gould, errors, and rubbish you get with Rabs.

You don't find too many people who prefer Voss over Rabs.
I just can't stand Voss because of all the crap he carries on with on the Sunday Roast and the Footy Show. I think he's taken Goulds mantle for thinking he owns the air inside the football.
I rate Braybrook as the best caller on Fox, the only negative about his calling is his pairing with Belcher.
Each to their own Yoss, I was just curious.

I'll take Voss on the Sunday Roast anyday to Rabs on MMM where he does his usual grandstanding, "I've been doing this for 200 years so don't disagree with me" routine. I find Rabs comes across as an elitist whereas Voss to me is more of a fan's commentator. I imagine Warren going out for dinner on a Saturday night while Voss is at home watching Super Saturday. Voss comes up with the kind of insights and obsession with minute details that only comes from someone who is just a league tragic. Rabs on the other hand is often just a shill for whoever he thinks he needs to in with or to push the agenda of his mates. I'll never forget him going on air in 1999 to say that the Parramatta-Balmain merger was a sure thing, implying it was some sort of investigative scoop when he was really just parotting what Denis Fitzgerald had told him at dinner.

Andrew Moore and Andy Raymond don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Rabs

The best caller in the game didn't even get a mention from any one

David Morrow from ABC radio wets on all of them and would be a breathe of fresh air on TV

Extremely intelligent ,great eye for the game and extremely knowledgable on the game

He's certainly a big improvement over the auctioneering over on 2GB where anyone who disagrees is a gibberer or an imbecile. Whether his style would translate over on TV these days is another question.

any team that can survive on the gold coast for more than 10 years.

The Titans DO have the best shot at doing that out of all the teams they have tried there - although they need to do it on the field as well - and that is where most Gold Coast teams have fallen apart - they don't win any bloody games.

before the titans came along all combined Gold Coast teams had a record of 53 wins, 9 draws, and 184 losses.

the titans have a record of 58 wins and 66 losses, so their record is quite a bit better - however people from that area especially LOVE to follow a winner - that has been proven over the years - so it would need to go higher, to garner the crowds, money, etc…

all stats i garnered from http://nrl.has.it - brilliant site for stat heads like me.

I don't mind Mr 'would you believe'. The Wok is another one who has an outstanding Rugby League brain, but his downfall is he puts you to sleep after 5 mins. The only problem I have with Morrow is that he doesn't call the game enough. Its like he fogets he's on radio and just talks over the top of the play. Or the Wok willl give his comments, which on radio, the co-commentator is suppose to be quick and to the point, yet the Wok takes an entire set of six to give his analysis. And they never call the teams onto the field, they just talk and talk and all of a sudden say 'here's the kickoff'. Apart from that they go ok

Also sometimes you can wait a long time for a score update because Warren Ryan is rambling on about something inconsequential that has amused him. Frustrating if you jump in the car and just want a score…

Yeah, they only go around the grounds when there are points at their own game, so if theres a long break between tries, sometimes it will take ages. Whereas 2GB go around the grounds at any break in the play. Scrums,drop-outs, penalties etc

"Brisbane Broncos have a whole State to choose from" - while they actually do, it is a myth to think this is an advantage over other NSW based clubs. Brisbane have the whole country to choose from, but so does every other club.

Having played in many carnivals, I can guarantee you all there was a representative from every NSWRL Clubs at all junior carnivals up in Qld from as early as 1982\. To think Brisbane are the only ones there is simply silly and a weak excuse to justify there success…

Yeah but Brisbanes advantage is that most players up there, if given the choice, would prefer to stay in Brisbane. Therefore Brisbane pretty much gets all the players they want because if a youngster is gonna choose between the same opportunity in Brisbane or having to move away from family to nsw, they are going to choose to stay in Brisbane.

lol… Who wouldnt want to live in Queensland!

If I went to Sydney to recruit and offered a scholaship to a young 13 year old in Macarthur, he would jump at the chance to move to Brisbane/Gold Coast/Canberra if my scholarship provided a clear pathway to a successful football club. (And we would rig the rules to ensure he was eligable for Queensland Origin)

I still say the old Saturday arvo ABC commentary ruled the airwaves. It is what the game is missing …

Genoshan I don't know if you are a Qlder or not but Warren Boland (one of the members of the old Saturday afternoon team ) actually still does Qld cup games on Saturday afternoons on ABC TV with David Wright
