Nathan Cleary

One thing to be understood is also that we should not be talking to Nathan yet due to anti tampering deadlines. Sure we have the inside track as his father is free to discuss his future with him as he pleases but the club should not be making any formal approaches and would have to be very careful they don't overstep the boundary.

The roosters are chasing Munster to replace Cronk, no surprise really, they just buy who they want when they want.
Parra, Titans and Cowboys also chasing Munster, but I think Munster wants to play fullback. But I am sure the roosters can convince him to play five eighth, money talks
 
I'm cooling a bit on NC since all this stuff about he and his father has been in the news.

Aspects of Maloney's game could suit us although his missed tackles aren't what we need!

Yeah, and often can't handle his nonchalant approach, but take that jerk out of a team and they often struggle, including Penrith. On the other hand, they generally go okay without Nathan.
 
Don't think Penrith would really miss Cleary as they have 2 ready made replacements in there lower grades. But if Cleary stays at Penirth have a look at there forward depth in all three grades we don't have that sort of depth as yet.

I understand that he's a great player and Ivan wants him at this club, but the word around is that if we do sign him it will be for $1 million a season. I hope that's not true, the most I'd pay is $800k. We would be better off keeping Brooks at 7 and Reynolds at 6 if he can stop getting injured. Or keep Brooks at 7 and go for someone like Milford.
 
Forwards are the key to success and no matter how good our half back is we will get not where without good forwards.

I think Brooks would be fantastic behind a dominate pack with Reynolds next to him.

So no he’s not worth the money as we are better spending it on quality forwards.
 
Gee, everyone seems to think that we will be a million dollars better off not getting Cleary jnr.

To keep Brooks won’t be that far short of N Cleary money. He’s on $550k now I believe as coach Cleary didn’t want to pay his asking price of $800k last time but he’ll get offers of that and probably more now as he is polling very well in the Dally Ms.

N Cleary is a SOO player and a very good goal kicker so he will be around the $1M mark - market value.

I can’t see us getting N Cleary and keeping Brooks, it’s one or the other. Personally I hope we get N Cleary.

Like others have said, if we don’t improve our forward stocks Brooks or Cleary will have a hard time. I’m guessing coach Cleary will be lining up some grunts in time for juniors arrival in 2020 if he is in fact thinking of switching.

Doesn't have the same calibre of players NC has around him either.

No to 1 mill. Actually no all together. Dont need a half, we already have a great one here. I dont rate cleary as high as everyone else seems to. I would rather loose cleary senior before signing cleary jnr
 
I don't think he's worth 1 mil, he wouldn't make as big a difference to our side playing behind our current pack. Having said that, he's a quality player.
 
1 million percent he is worth it.

Only people who say no are those who don’t believe we could actually get him (aka defeatist / inferiority complex / happy in the doldrums / sour grapes).

If we were truly in for him then it’s the biggest no brainer ever.
 
his in a form slump atm. not sure what is going on there, but was much better the start of the year.

going off history contract talks weighing him down and will come there other side when sorted.

or he could do a mitchel moses?
 
Doesnt matter what he is worth only what other clubs will pay him. If we want him ill be shocked if we could get him for 1 mill. Other clubs will be offering 1.2 to 1.4.

I would only give him 800k but thats just me.

9\. Farah/ Liddle - see 6

I’d see about our 6 & 7 especially since they steer the team around, kick, control speed and inject creativity.

Remember in 2005 our spine was great.
Forwards were average at best.
Whatuira and Richards were class but other backs were average too.
