New coach Mick Potter key to Tim Moltzen revival at Wests Ti

Potter's talked up both Moltzen and Tedesco recently, it'll be interesting who gets the nod and whether they are there for the whole year

I must see a different Tim Moltzen. Aside from defending kicks I think he is a really good defensive fullback. He makes some freakish try-saving tackles. I don't think he's a pussy that doesn't want to get hurt I just think he's afraid of dropping the ball and looking like an idiot.

The bottom line is that we won't know what was instinct and what were coached tactics until we see him run around to kick off 2013.

Moltzen is a class player we all know that. However, he has no heart and there is no way to grow a new one as far as I am aware. He could have saved countless tries in the past but was very aware of being injured in the process. Going into a tackle with your eyes shut and your head as far back on your shoulders as is humanely possible does not equate to what a fullback should be about. I don't call any player or anyone heartless off the cuff and in fact I feel a little sorry for Moltzen because he cannot change what he is. I have complete confidence that what I have just written will bear me out before too long.

Don't put it down to heart of the poor bloke. I'm pretty sure I recall reading that he had a accident when he was younger and has a metal plate in his head. Could explain the hesitation and if true, to even get out there shows he has plenty of heart.

… as well, I thought he was far better at running the ball back last year.

Plus, he saved plenty of tries. I still remember that brilliant tackle on Mini. There was a couple of brilliant try savers just last year.

He is a good player. Teddy is just better. But after Ted's injury, surely it's better to start Moltz.

MacDougall Iam with you, I think he defends really well both at the back and up in the line. I think at times when defending on his own line he makes some bad reads and seems to lack desperation but he had at least 10 mates in that boat last year.

All I want is both him and Tedesco be given a fair crack before round one and than picking the best man for the job. From where I sit if they were both much the same I would go for Moltzen on experience alone

I should have made it clearer what I was trying to say in my previous post on this subject and that is….I am only talking about his tackling prowess on or near his tryline. I cannot recall him ever stopping a try with him one on one with an opposition player. I already stated that IMO there is no doubt that he is a talented player. I have witnessed through those wonderful TV camera operators time and time again just how much he is prepared to put his body on the line. Other fullbacks in the same situation stop most of those tries and you don't have to be big to stop a front or second rower. Matty Bowen does it just about every week. Blah, blah, blah. :sign:

Moltzen will get his chance to redeem himself. And I hope he does.

However that will leave Tedesco out of the side. Is everyone ok with that?

This is a very tough decision but we all know Moltzen will be named at fullback come round 1, Just how long are we prepared to give him, because under sheens he had endless lifelines.

Teddy is keeping Moltzen future position warm … Within the month of kick off is my prediction cream always rises to the top.... always has and always will!

Going on some of these posts here above. What stands out for myself is the 'heart' factor. In Oz the Tin Man was looking for a heart & the wizard gave him one. If Potter is the Wizard of Oz then surely he will give Moltzen a heart.
