Maybe the Coach and some of the players are away on holidays , that would be my guess , and it would also have some impact on player signings , I think we will get some info on recruitment in the next 2 to 4 weeks once players start to get ready for pre season training , holidays , grand finals , all complete by then , The media Grubs are only trying to sell there crap ,

No coaches went to the lunch. It wasn't a case of Cleary being the only non attendee. Hodgson didn't go either

No that's true and there were very few current players there either (only Robbie Farah that I saw). It's actually poor form by the club in my view. When I've been to these things in the past they have always had the coach there and the coach has given a speech. There have also been current players there, although there seem to be less and less every year. It has turned into an event where they seem to spend the whole time trying to pump supporters and corporates for cash and offer very little in return. If coaches and players can't be bothered turning up it's not showing much regard for the supporters. They like to bang on about how they are at the top in various metrics but fall down on the fairly fundamental task of treating supporters like they're valued.
