If they use the heritage jersey from 2004 I would buy that one.

One thing we need to do is drop the wests/balmain jerseys as has been displayed in the last two rounds. I get the heritage and I get the nostalgia, but if we are going to move forward as a joint venture we need to move forward. Our kit is one area that keeps the split fresh in peoples minds. We are 1 club. So 1 jersey (Away & Home kits only). We need to strengthen the brand. And having a new kits every second week does nothing but weaken it imo. Something the roosters and dragons have done well for years.

And then there's the whole magpie can of worms to take on.

Not a massive fan of the new design at first glance, looks too "AFL ish> Port Adelaide FC" I think.

I can deal with he sleeve Magpie as it means so mach to a few of the older generation.

Though I hate the old jerseys even though I still have my original Philips somewhere in the house.

I mostly agree, but do like wests/balmain guernseys for special occasions (like the 50th anniversary of the 63 Grand Final a few weeks back).

When we play at anz are we any less of wests tigers than if we play at dairy farmers, leichardt or scg? No. While we keep clinging to the past we can't embrace the future that's all I'm saying.

Rubbish - we need to embrace and celebrate the heritage of the magpies and tigers. Leave the mapgie there. It means a lot to all us old wests supporters. We can embrace the future AND remember our history. They are not mutually exclusive.

It's that decadent mentality of hanging on to the past that stops progress. Western suburbs magpies and balmain tigers ceased to exist in the nrl from 1999\. That's close to 15 years ago.

What possible benefit could a picture of a magpie have being in the jersey. Or mention of balmain? Neither are represented anymore. I don't see the Sydney swans sporting their old south Melbourne football club indicia to name one of many (look at the nfl) clubs that have moved on.

Our half back for next year was 3 when we merged he plays for wests tigers - maybe we should also support wests tigers and leave the past as the past. The future is 1 club not 2\. Perhaps when you sentimental fuddy duddies die off we can have some progress as one club. In the meantime keeping sending your faxes, watching reruns on your VHS recorder and enjoy your woollen jerseys.

Its not the logo of WT.. its not the mascot of WT.. its part of the 'Wests branding' that is preserved in WT. nobody calls them magpies, nobody thinks they are magpies.. The magpie is a small reminder of the origins of WT.. Just like the Tiger is..

So if the tiny magpie represents the history and tradition of Western Suburbs Magpies and needs to go, does WT then need to ditch playing at Leichhardt Oval because its the Tigers 'spiritual home' and a legacy to the history and tradition of Balmain?

Ok, the magpie remains part of the 'branding' on the sleeve and that's fine. Where is the Balmain Tiger? And before you say it's on the chest, that is not the Balmain Tiger. It is a different design. It;s the 'Wests Tiger'. The Balmain Tiger has been on the sleeve in the past. Why isn't it there now.

Unfortunately this whole thing will be a generational change. In another 15 years, people might be letting go of the past. Either way as I have said before, we could call ourselves the Sydney Poo Pirates and wear brown and I couldn't care less. Wests Tigers is now my team and thats that!

It's true that I like the old woollen guernseys, especially on a cold winters night on the hill, but I get my reruns from the torrents these days.
