New Jerseys

New jerseys are a good sell and profit maker for our merchandise department.

Yeah I know, Newtown, that's what bothers me - exploitation of the fans. And does it really have to change every year? It changes that often I forget who I support sometimes! Surely we can stick with one design for at least a few years. It hasn't hurt the Roosters or the Dragons.

Our jersey design doesn't change every year. The NRL rules state the design must remain the same for 3 season for HOME jerseys, 2 years for away/alt. jerseys.

Our Orange with Black and White V was introduced in 2011 and this year was our third season. As for our away white jersey, next year is our second season.

Yup, but i would rather them keep this jersey for a few years at least. Looks alright from what i can see, might get one since i dont own one, gave away a signed one a year or two ago when we were premiership favs. Just a few singlets and jumpers.

I love the new design. Never been a fan of the current one. I prefer classic, simple jersey designs.

That being said, I just wish we would stick with one for a long time to build up the tradition. But doesnt seem honng things are done these days.

Im a balmain supporter and happy for the Magpie to be on the jersey.

I just wish old Magpie supporters could get over commentators occasionally calling us Balmain.

Love the new jerseys.

Trouble is that when so called pro commentators call us Balmain it is reflection of how a lot of people see us.

That's why we need to promote our identity in a way which people see as wests tigers with balmain and wests in there

Do you need to tattoo your parents names and faces on your arm to remember them? Same principle. Where we play also has nothing to do with our brand either. When we play at anz are we any less of wests tigers than if we play at dairy farmers, leichardt or scg? No. While we keep clinging to the past we can't embrace the future that's all I'm saying.

Rubbish - we need to embrace and celebrate the heritage of the magpies and tigers. Leave the mapgie there. It means a lot to all us old wests supporters. We can embrace the future AND remember our history. They are not mutually exclusive.

It's that decadent mentality of hanging on to the past that stops progress. Western suburbs magpies and balmain tigers ceased to exist in the nrl from 1999\. That's close to 15 years ago.

What possible benefit could a picture of a magpie have being in the jersey. Or mention of balmain? Neither are represented anymore. I don't see the Sydney swans sporting their old south Melbourne football club indicia to name one of many (look at the nfl) clubs that have moved on.

Our half back for next year was 3 when we merged he plays for wests tigers - maybe we should also support wests tigers and leave the past as the past. The future is 1 club not 2\. Perhaps when you sentimental fuddy duddies die off we can have some progress as one club. In the meantime keeping sending your faxes, watching reruns on your VHS recorder and enjoy your woollen jerseys.

Only in your mind buddy. Clinical definition is little man syndrome.

This year I spoke to a lsdy that believed that Balmain took over everything hence their always called the Tigets.
Not in my mind but hers.
There are many fringe rl fans who would think that if they became the Balmain Tigers again nothing really had changed!

I once met a lady who believed in unicorns.

This club has no greater affiliation to Balmain than Wests and never has.

What do you want the club to do to prove this is the case? Rename itself as "Wests (Not Balmain) Tigers"?

If the general public associate us more with Balmain, which they dont, this is because Balmain had more recent success than Wests. The champion Balmain side of the late 80's was a very popular team for league fans in general.

Get over it and support the club we are today.

That is NOT the reason why people think Balmain & WT are one in the same.

Ask yourself why do commentators 'accidentally' call WT Balmain during a game in 2013 when the name Balmain has not been used since 1999\. Why are they never accidentally called Magpies? Thats because nobody distinguishes between the Tigers brands. Nothing to do with Success pre 2000.

Once every year for a heritage game.

Why does it not take a Balmain heriage Jersey for WT to be called Balmain?

Out of sight out of mind.. Accepting WT as my new team.. Have done that since day one…

Accepting WT as just a re-badged Balmain no way.

How often do commentators call us Balmain? Once a year, if that.

Lets see:

We are called Wests Tigers (nope thats not Balmain).

We play equal amount of games at Leichhardt and Campbo (nope thats not Balmain)

We train at Concord (nope not Balmain)

Mike Bailey is our chairman (nope not Balmain)

Our juniors come equally from Wests (Tedesco, Lawrence, Nofo etc) and Balmain (Brooks, Siro, Farah) (nope not Balmain).

Its clear to me that what you really want is us to be renamed Wests Magpies. Nothing short of that will assauge your belief that we are a rebadged Balmain.

All of this because every so often an old commentator mistakely calls us Balmain.

Oh and by the way Gould often call us the Magpies. I dont hear you protesting then.

You let stupid commentator mistakes rule way too much of your life.

The moment you take the time to complain about it on here is a waste. There are things holding us back, Rabbs being old or Sterlo being lazy is not one of them.

Between 1970 and 2000 Balmain only ever featured in finals between 1883 to 1990.
Never really thought of Balmain as very successful in that time.

The only reason some think of us more as Balmain is because the tele in particular nearly always refer to us as the tigers wearing black and gold.
Plus any associations with the past usually have a Balmain link.

I have kniwn since the lste 70s Wests were never rwally wanted by the powers that be..Nothings changed.

All I want is a new club mostly called Wests Tigers wearing black white and gold.
Truth is I don't see the WT as Wests orBalmain. I just want to ferl a link with both.

If you want to see us as one club, stop dredging up isolated incidences of perceived bias by the larger rugby league community. Either you want to move on, or you don't, because right now you are attempting to have it both ways.

Moving on vs Condoning such issues.. There is a difference.

Moved on - I follow WT 100% since 2000 nothing more to 'move on' about it

Ensuring the legacy & tradition of Western Suburbs and Balmain is preserved fairly and equally and is portrayed by media and non WT fans as a new entity with a new Tigers identity not a continuation of the Balmain Tigers.

Its not Just TV commentators.. its applies to journalists, marketing people (there are 3 colours not two). WT most of the time make good efforts to promote our new club.. Its external perceptions and factors that let it down.. Being told to ignore / accept those such things naturally irks me and others.
