New NRL TV Deal - What do you want from it?

I personally would like something similar to NBA league pass (https://ilp.nba.com/nbalp/secure/registerform) its just streams all games online - but obviously you have to pay money for it, i think the nrl are loking into this as they launched a site but for only international countries besides NZ and Uk(i think)..

For which days i think the games you be on - 2 friday night (C9), 2/3 Satuday Night (FS), 2/3 Sunday (FS) and a 4pm Kick off on sunday(c9)
And also if they did bring two teams in future years i would think a thursday night game might be good…

Online access is a must.

At risk of sounding like a mongrel, it would be fantastic if Fox won the rights so they could show every game live as they have the live switch facility available to switch between games and the ability to record via Fox IQ.

Basically, all I want from this deal is for the FTA broadcaster not to treat the game with absolute contempt and have all the input on game scheduling. The NRL should be at liberty to change the live game and the delayed Sunday game that go FTA based on performance of sides.

When the likes of the Tigers, Parramatta, Melbourne, Canterbury and as much as I hate to say it, Easts, are on fire they are the biggest advertisement for the game.

One HD will get the rights i think.
They already have 2 league shows and show everything in High Definition. If they make a good offer they'll get it for sure

1\. Good Bye Channel Nine…

2\. NRL to pick the Draw at the start of the season which evenly allocates Friday/Saturday/Sunday & Monday games across all clubs.

3\. No Delayed Coverage (if a broadcaster cant show the game live, the game is allocated to an alternative broadcaster)

4\. Did I mention Bye Bye Channel Nine?

packer wants one HD to close down to a news channel, but im sure i saw a article its moving towards being like 7mate, also 10 dont have as much money as Seven and Nine

I think it would be great if One HD got the rights to all the old games, so they could have chooseday night football etc..

i reckon that sounds great, since FTA won't play them in HD

I want all the games to be in HD.

- its a travesty how much better the games on fox HD look. changing to an sd picture is like slathering vasoline on the lens.

Propsed schedule
Friday
7:30 Live nine
7:30 Delay nine

Saturday
5:30 Live Fox
7:30 Live Fox
7:30 Live Fox (viewers choice)

Sunday
2:00 Live Fox
2:00 Live Fox (viewers choice)
4:00 Live Nine
6:30 Live Fox (do away with Monday)

with 2 new teams coming in, if there is 16 or 17 teams in 2013, then cut either a Saturday night game or a Sunday 2:00 game.

Can't see why they can't have 3 live free to air games One Friday Night one Saturday night and one Sunday afternoon and the replay of Friday nights other game

I wish all the games were on free to air, LIVE.
None of that Sunday 1 hour delayed nonsense.
Sick of that, hopefully they work something out with the new deal.

If a network is going to show delayed games, it should have the same amount of advertisements as the live one. Not literally 10 times more.

I don't mind watching a Friday night game at 9.30, but the amount of ads kills me.

I hate footy on free to air.

It's a sporting contest not a bloody tv show….9 has been hacking the games to peices for years. Terrible coverage.

Having said that, I do like the one hd idea.

Awesome schedule!

Maybe Fox could grab one Friday night game, Channel 9 the other, therefore both games could be shown live.
Alternatively, if the FTA broadcaster gets the rights to both Friday games, the delayed game should not be allowed to show more than 1-2 ads per commercial break.
I hate watching the footy with long ad breaks. It's torture.

If Fox get one, nine get the other, the games will compete against one another and hurt the ratings. One after the other is much better for ratings and will result in more $$$$$$. If Perth get the nod they can be the second Friday game, and go on live.

Ideally no games ever shown on Foxtel, that's only for the affluent and the idiots.

Realistically keeping the games we have on Fridays & Sundays on FTA & at least one of the Saturday ones back on FTA and get rid of Monday Footy all together.

And have the friday games on at 5.30 & 7.30 not 7.30 & 9.30

Friday at 5:30 won't work, some people still wouldn't have left work, let alone gotten to the footy. You'd get some shocking crowds there, and equally poor ratings.

I don't care about those getting to the footy given its likely I'll never get to another game. I care about being on TV at an appropriate viewing time. 9.30 start is too late, lucky to make it to half time.

What about Friday night games live at 6.30 and 8.30?
Who cares about ACA they have Sunday night ACA as well anyway.
It'd be a big ratings lead in coming from the news as well, and ch 9 are having problems with their 7pm slots, that would solve Friday nights at least.

Best idea.

We had several games start at 8:30 on Friday at the beginning of the year, before Daylight Savings ended (so games could go live into Qld), the crowd figures were attrocious, no way the NRL would make it a lock. I can't see it happening with 6:30 games either.
