MEET the new reality show, The Shire. But unlike their TV counterparts, this cast boasts enormous credibility.

Test forward Luke Lewis, English international Chris Heighington, NSW Origin winger Michael Gordon and Wests Tigers' back of the year Beau Ryan headline a recruitment drive that will see Cronulla start next season as a genuine premiership heavyweights.

Arriving for their first day in Sharks colours on Friday, the quartet bring experience, class, toughness and attacking skill to a side on the rise.

After fighting their way into the finals in 2012, Cronulla are equal sixth at $11 to win next year's title.

But Ryan has issued a warning, knowing how expectation can strangle a side after five years and several failed finals campaigns at the Tigers.

"I don't really want to create much of a buzz, or favourites, that sort of thing," Ryan said.

"We had it last year at the Tigers and it doesn't work. I want to hopefully fly under the radar here.

"I didn't really read into it too much. Robbie (Farah) and a few people talked us up at the start of the year, which can be a good thing, obviously the bookies made us favourites.

"I just want to play semi-final football. There's a lot of great sides still in Sydney and again I think it's a bit of a benefit being out here away from the spotlight a little bit."

New second-rower Heighington was happy to talk about the potential of the Sharks after both he and Lewis declared they were in great shape. Heighington said he didn't need off-season surgery for a change, while Lewis said his recent thyroid cancer scare has not affected his off-season training.

"It only took me a couple of hours to make the decision to come here," Heighington said. "They're are a lot of talented players here, like at the Tigers.

"I've got three years here now and I'm going to give it my all."

With the new faces on board, the Sharks are looking to double their ticketed membership to 10,000 next year.

That comes hot on the heels of their first finals appearance since 2008.

New Sharks general manager Pat Woods, who joined Cronulla from the Queensland Reds, said the club's membership renewal is up an incredible 156 per cent on where they were this time last year.

Should say "There are a lot of talented players here, because they are Tigers".

Gotta admit that jumper looks good on Heigno.

Good luck to them both.
I still think that the only player we've sold to the sharks that we actually have or will miss is Gibbs.

I don't know mate. I'm really worried about the spirit in the team after losing Beau and a nice bloke like Ellis in the same year and getting a new tougher coach.

I still wish Beau was a Tiger. Heart and Soul of the team.

If Flanagan can meld this team together and Carney can hold it together they are going to be a very dangerous team this season

If I were a sharks fan, I would be a lot more excited about the two guys from penrith than I would be about beau and rhino

Slopshield is going to beat himself into a rich lather with all the stories he can get the journos at the Tele to write

Boy oh boy for a sharks Story there was a whole lot of "Tigers" mentioned by the boys…

I hope they do well next year, those two deserve it. Having said that, nothing would please me more than to see Koroibete stand Beau Ryan up one-on-one, and run 80 metres to score.

Yep, quite obvious to see Beau and Heigho still hold good memories of the Tigers. Good to see after listening to Fifita piss and moan about WT all last off-season. Good luck to them both

Interesting to note Heighington has had offseason surgery for the last few years. I think the change will do him the world of good and we'll see a different player on the park next year. Having said that I'm looking forward to how the rest of our squad turn out and change under Potter.

The only person that looks weird is Beau Ryan which he was still at the tigers but oh well everyone will have to move on at some stage you cant keep the same team forever were starting a new team next year. The only big lose for next year is Gareth Ellis but im excited for a huge year in 2013 let it begin already.

Yeah my understanding is that the real reason that Rhino and Beau went to the Sharks was to recreate the " 2 dressing rooms " that Fifita is missing sooo much
