New team without LAWRENCE

not sure this is the week for austin. i dont think anasta did too badly but notwithstanding there will likely be too many changes in other positions for austin to come in next week.

then again, playing manly what do they have to lose?

Teddy (if ruled out Simona or Nofo to cover both have played #1 & Aspeli Fine called into centre)
Koro
Nofo
Simona
Richards
Austin
Brooks.
Without doubt this is the best backline we can muster at present, notwithstanding the inherent defensive faults. Anasta; Lulia; & Lawrence have no legitimate claim based on performance over any of these 7\. The forwards also based on performance pick themselves: Woods; Farah; Galloway; Fulton; Paterson (should be ok) Blair - Bench: Taupau; Gavet; Ava ( if injured Nathan Brown); Aspeli Fine ( 2nd row & centre) Sue will be out for 3-4 weeks.
Remember you heard it here first - Fine will definitely debut within the next month - Paul Fletcher has him as his No1 player in his NSW Cup side.

Anasta and Lulia do not deserve to be dropped after the four games we've had so far. I've already said this in another thread but Anasta is a good foil for Brooks, and whilst he doesn't always pull out the big plays, his experience is invaluable at times. His try today showed that. He is also a very solid defender for a five-eighth, much more so than Austin. We need to have our best defending side on the park if we are going to have any chance of keeping up with Manly. Lulia, whilst he hasn't set the world on fire and covered himself in glroy, hasn't really done a lot wrong. Sure, he's made a few mistakes, but I'd much rather him defending against Lyon or Matai than Koroibete.

1\. James Tedesco
2\. Pat Richards
3\. Tim Simona
4\. David Nofaluama
5\. Tom Satterthwaite

Satterthwaite would be eaten alive in FG.

Again you're being precious.

My comment wasn't even directed at you personally, it was a general comment to everyone who complains about him week in week out.

Nothing to do with being precious but I'll leave it there with you, will have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your weekend

Lawrence was going ok until he went to the wing, he is not a winger.
Same as Richards is not a fullback, they both struggled once they were out of their comfort zone

Well here we go again - two wins and nothing.

Have a loss and we want to change the whole damn team again, You guys need to pull your heads in.

Koro is not good enough for Z Grade. Can we off load him to someone so we can pay for someone else.
Mr T. and Satterthwaite have many games to play to get to NRL standard.
Lawrence and Richards play out of position - don't do too well, so they get crucified.
You are back on the Anasta bandwagon again as well.

If a team is picked against Manly with Koro, Satterthwaite, Mr.T and Austin - we could be the first team in quite a few years to have a 100 points put on us. There is nowhere to hide with a backline of DCE, Foran, Mattei, Lyon, Williams etc. coming at you all game. The above changes you wanted to make wouldn't tackle a good hamburger let alone the opposition.

Let's stick with a team that hasn't been going too bad, for as long as possible and give them a chance. Nothing worse than constantly changing combinations.

The thread is about getting rid of Lawrence which is the right thing to do in 2014..
And getting rid of Lawrence doesn't ruin combinations, there has been a few changes in the centres this year already, and have u seen Lawrence 'combine' with anyone in attack or defence?

oh come on milky… satterthwaite?? Just stick with something similar to what we used vs souths.

Teddy, Nofo, Lulia, Simona, Richards. I'd like to see Koro replace richards long term though, if we can manage to keep him.

Lawrence was playing out of position with a part time centre partner

Give him a break

He also looked to come out a tackle at about the 10th minute with a limp , anyone else notice ??

There is no way Lulia gets dropped.

If people here think potter will drop Lawrence are kidding themselves. If Lawrence is fit he will always be picked

Why? He dropped Benji didn't he. At least Benji had SOME penetration in attack.
Lawrence has to go.
Accept it everyone

He'll never be dropped. Accept it.

Can anybody please give me a reasonably logical reason why Lawrence will Never be dropped. Otherwise it will be Adios Potter before 2015.

It's a valid point. Potter at this point is still coaching for his career. It'd be Lulia and Simona for me next week. A stint in reggies might do Chris' confidence the world of good.

I'll probably cop it for this, but I would stick with Rowdy. Here's why..

1\. Last year he had major problems with his hamstrings (not his hip, legs get that straight and I can tell you that with absolute certainty). He did minor damage one of his hammies in Rd 1 and was rested as a precaution.

2\. This defensive liability of Lawrence everyone carries on about. Have a good look at who has played outside of him last year, Koroibete and Tuqiri. Koro is one of the worst wing defenders in the comp and Tuqiri is a shadow of his former self. The amount of times last year Koro or Lote would read d poorly had a huge affect on Lawrence's decision making (not always right I will admit, but nowhere what people are making out). You would see the whole team shift and Lawrence would be forced to try and jam in and crush the ball player. Last year the Tigers as a team where horrible in defence, yet Lawrence was singled out many times as the problem which was not the whole truth.

3\. He's played two games this season. If memory serves me correctly he didn't miss a tackle in game one. Yesterday he lost his starting inside backrower to concussion, then lost his experienced winger to play fullback to replace Teddy. He was then forced to play 55 minutes in a position he hasn't played in years with a small inexperienced halfback defending inside him. What do you think would have happened if he never came in to help Brooks? The Warriors would've run over him all day anyway.

4\. Again, it's his first game back, we had a string of injuries in the game and not one fit bench player. There's a few players who haven't set the world on fire. I actually think Lulia has been worse than Lawrence. He's been ok, but can anyone say that when he has the ball, something is going to happen? I can't.

Simona will be back next week and I would put him next to Nofo, they had a great combination last year. The only player I would replace Rowdy with (if it happens) is Asipeli Fine. But I wish everyone would back up Lawrence for a few games to see if he can get some form up. Remember he is still young and was not long ago an Australian rep player. Give him a few weeks (not just one game) to prove his worth before everyone turns him into the forum whipping boy.

Agree with everything you said Tigertye, not sure itll make much difference to peoples opinions though.

And the call on Asipeli Fine is also spot on, he is the only one of the young centres up to it at this point in their development.
