Newsflash : the salary cap is not an issue

Ayshford HAD to be dropped this week. Two mins to go, game on the line, and he casually chucked out one hand and barely bothered to even look like he was trying as Ben Roberts went past him. This, on top of absolutely pea hearted performances week after week for ages now.

**Meaney IS eligible. Nofa could have gone in to the centers, Meaney on the wing.\
\
Or Meaney in at center.**
Not ideal, but we had options and all were better than Ayshford.

You can't just pick Ayshford and act like not showing any pride in the jersey is acceptable. Absolutely disgraceful decision by Potter.

Today was his chance to make a stand and send Ayshford down to state cup to finish his career with us.

Instead, he is letting him finish "with his mates" in the NRL team. Another month guaranteed wearing the jersey. Absolute disgrace.

Meaney got sin binned a couple of weeks ago for approaching the ref a little too much - and he's captain, so that is saying something.

That speaks volumes almost as much as Ayshford Pea heartedness.

Exactly.

Meaney isn't a star, but at least the jersey would have meant a lot to him and he would have put his body on the line.

Absolutely NO excuse for Ayshford getting picked again. None.

I agree , Meaney should have been picked on this instance . At least he busts a gut every time he runs onto a field .

Exactly mate. He shows pride every single time he pulls on the jersey. There's no excuse for him not being there.

I can't believe how many apologists are going on about the cap. Meaney IN, Ayshford OUT = No effect on the cap. None.

Potter has lost me. 100% lost. All he has to do was have some balls and drop Ayshford and say "not putting your body on the line is not acceptable. Blake is going to learn how to do that in state cup this week" and I'd have backed him for good.

Well obviously Potter thinks Meaney will never be a full time NRL player(neither do I). So why would you pick him and take his leadership out of the NSW Cup team?

Our NRL season is over and no one in the team cares, so why should we decimate our other teams.

In 5 weeks first grade is over, state cup and 20's are still incontention why hobble them by taking players out just to bolster a team with no hope.

Robbo, that doesn't even make sense mate? A bloke like Meaney gets basically nothing for state cup. Let the bloke come up and get some match payments / get some TV time / get some reward for years of effort.

Let Ayshford go down and play in front of 50 people.

Excellent point.

Why??? Meaney has played enough to go back there and every bloke in that team would LOVE to play a TV game v the roosters and wear the jersey. Some blokes bust their guts for years down there just in the hope of getting a game or two.

Leave the 20s alone for the year, yes.

But the state cup blokes want to wear NRL jerseys. It means a lot to guys like Meaney.

Mate they are struggling at the moment, if you take Meaney (their captain) out they are a danger of missing the semis im sure he would rather make the semis than play 5 dead rubbers.Im hoping Ava and Simona are able to go back at the end if not they are shot.

I don't think the state cup players would agree with you somehow. They would choose to play NRL every.single.day.of.the.week.

Of course players would rather play NRL, who knows when there last game would be every game should be cherished ask someone like Simon Dwyer. The best 17 should be picked each week.Sponsors also pay for the Tigers brand name one that is now cheapened by selecting players like Anasta & Ayshford.

Lets just finish the year with this team and let the under 20s and nsw cup just charge to win the comp.

Agree 100000% bring them in next year

Exactly.

The season is gone folks, why weaken the other two teams who are, or should be, in the top eight?

Lighten up and give Potter some credit.

The only problem I have with Meaney is that he is a fairly ordinary footballer. So is Ayshford. What are you gonna do, two ordinary choices and a season that is already over.

HAHA, meaney at centre. Give that one game and you'd be begging for Ayshford back. He's a FULLBACK. And a NSW Cup fullback at that.

And why further disrupt the team by putting in a player who won't be a fulltime 1st grader, not like we're any hope of making the 8…
