NFL 2017/18 Banter

Was a fan of Dan Marino and later on lived and worked in Miami for 5 years so am a Dolphins fan. Like the Tigers they are useless for years and then have 1 or 2 good years so you get your hopes up and then back to having a losing record. Gotta enjoy the good years when they come around.

Does anyone play fantasy football?

Yeah I'm playing the nfl.com fantasy. This is my second year of doing it. I signed up to one of the auto-drafts and am competing against a bunch of randos

Im in a league with some guys at work through ESPN. I did a live draft at one of the guys' house. It was fun drinking beer and talking crap. Its my first year and Im only really doing it for the trash talk hahahaha. So far Im 1-0

I'm optimistic with Philly strengthening the offence. Last year the receiveng core couldn't catch a cold, Wentz will benefit greatly having some quality targets. He was let down criminally last year. They have a pretty good run coming up over the next few weeks against teams like the Giants, Chargers and Panthers. I'm hopeful that they get to 5 or 6-1 which could put them in a strong position to secure the NFC East. I don't see the Giants or Skins being threats.

That injury to Darby could hurt the eagles though, depending on how long he's out for. Giants offense stunk last week. The offensive line couldn't protect Eli & wide receivers couldn't get open. They also don't have much of a run game, and Eli is on the downward slope. It'll up to the defense to carry the giants again this year.

Darby is out 4-6 weeks, so that hurts.

Not ideal, but could be worse. As you mentioned, eagles schedule isn't too bad early for the opening part of the season.

I am moving to Denver next year so i will be going to Mile High Stadium a couple of times.

Good luck. Seats in that place are expensive. Nosebleed (And I mean you duck for low flying aircraft) are over 110.00 a seat.

Hard core Green Bay fan. Even before I moved to the States

Wife is a Patriots fan.

And for all you Bengal fans….......you are sadly in for a verrrrrrrrrrry long season

Where abouts are you living if you don't mind me asking? My girlfriend is american and we're thinking of moving stateside early next year.

We live in Western Kansas. On the Great Plains

One of my wife's good friends married an American fella and moved to Kansas, Atchison is the name of the place they live I think? Looks like a rural-ish area.

Apparently AJ Green gave his team mates a rocket after the game. Sounds like funtimes at the Bengals lol.

I don't profess to be the world's biggest expert on the game, but Dalton would be on borrowed time if he keeps serving up that rubbish.

Yeah it is nice up that way. Can get pretty humid up in that corner of the state. I have bumped into a few Aussies living Kansas. We kinda tend to stick out a bit lol

The offensive coordinator got the bullet after the game very reminiscent of WT,lets hope it has the same effect, no TDs in the first 2 games at home is pathetic.

Doesn't get any easier either, got Packers away next up.

Dolphins fan, but have had little joy for a while now!!

It's just as tough being a Dolphins fan as it is being a Tigers fan. Wins are few and far between and when they do occur you just need to savour them. Scratchy game today but they got the win which is the only thing that counts.

Well my Packers were terrible last night. Definitely decided to play in their clown shoes for that one :frowning:

Thought you were a Bengals fan CB?
Bears fan here with a soft spot for the Bills, first started watching NFL around 1992 when the Bills were in the midst of their 4 consecutive Superbowl defeats…..was depressing watching those poor blokes find a way to lose 4 in a row- they deserved to win at least 1.

Who was their field goal kicker or non-kicker. Is my memory correct that he lost them a couple of Superbowls?

Scott Norwood was the kicker in the first 1 or 2 Superbowls- he missed a last-play field goal attempt in one but after watching a documentary about the Bills of that era I'm pretty sure he was attempting his longest field goal of the season and it was an open-air stadium that night IIRC. Wasnt an easy kick.
After the Superbowl when the Bills did their hometown parade (after losing) the whole gathered crowd chanted "Scott, Scott, Scott" in support of the shattered bloke: it was a classy moment from obviously disappointed fans.
If you ever get the chance mate there is an ESPN "30 for 30" documentary titled The Four Falls Of Buffalo about that era of Bills teams…..hands down the best sporting doco I have ever seen. It is brilliant, both gut wrenching yet inspiring how those blokes dealt with losing 4 Superbowls in a row yet busting a gut every one of those years to get back to the big dance. One playoff game they came back from 30 or so points down at halftime with their backup quarterback on the field. Magic stuff!
