No semis again this year/2023

Isn't it a bit deflating. Its like they have to win every game. I applaud all you beautiful people for sticking by them - through mostly disappointing times. Give yourself a pat on the back. Really.
I get the sarcasm in your post...really, I do. But I don't see a suggestion on what to do or how to improve or even as a supporter what should we do. Let's see - we could throw in the towel and refuse to support the team, or go to games. End result - the club survives without a fan base, and possibly does even worse than now to the extent that the NRL decides to relocate it to another town. Presumably that is a win for some? Or we could continue to support the team - in the spirit of Souths in the 1990s when they were were almost kicked out - and accept / hope that this state of mediocrity will one day come to an end. End result - we continue to believe and do what is in our reach/power (turn up at the games, be members), and exercise our right to vote for a different administration. Fans can then either remain loyal or jump ship. The choices are there / ours to make.

We were never realistically going to make the 8 with the halves options we had going into the year. Not going to make this a Brooks bashing thread, but he's just not a winning footy player from his style or ability. You can win games with him, not because of him. Doueihi started the year awfully and he's pretty much cooked now with his 3rd ACL and Wakeham is on his day a fringe first grader.

But there are at least positives going forward. How many building blocks did we have come the end of last year? A couple of guys who put in some decent performances but really only Hastings and Ofahengaue were consistent week to week and looked guaranteed starters the next year (funnily enough both have been moved on). Pole showed some flashes too I suppose but that's really about it. Utoikamanu took a step back, Twal looked average, To'a was inconsistent and Tupou looked poor in first grade.

Some may disagree but I think we can confidently go into next season with these positions filled:

1. Bula
2.
3. To'a
4.
5. Tupou
6.
7.
8. Utoikamanu
9. Koroisau
10. Klemmer
11. Papali'i
12.
13. Bateman

14. Pole
15. Twal
16.
17. Da Silva

Not sure what the situation with Blore is right now but if he gets a proper crack at first grade, he could fill that 12 spot. So you're looking at only a handful of positions needing replacements or upgrading next year. That's not a bad spot to be in - it's just unfortunate that 6 and 7, arguably the two most important positions, are our biggest weakness right now.

Say what you want, but that's a genuinely good pack that is definitely finals quality. Bula will be a great 1 and Koroisau is still in the best hooker in the league discussion. It's more than quite a few teams can say.
