No ticker

We are lucky to have such a corageous and battle hungry player who leaves everything on the field

Moltzens effort in attempting to take a bomb in the 59th minute, where he instead chose personal safety ahead of taking one for the team, when he took his eyes off the ball and got cleaned up by Hoffman & Norrie, proves why this dude will never have to heart to make anything of a career in the NRL…he will always be a liability, he will never be the guy next to you that you have 110% confidence in....he comes first, always has...not a team player and never will be.

Funny that he got smashed in his self preservation attempt....shows that if you give 110% you dont get hurt, when you dog it...you get hammered.

Ink I saw it. Moltzen was pirouetting around tripping around himself. It was a replay and I couldn't see the number of the jersey of that ballet dancer in Wests Tigers color. It was gutless. In the meantime there were 2 Wests players on the ground with the Melbourne try scorer putting their bodies on the line. The camera panned up and I was wanting to catch the number of the worst effort I've seen in my life from a fullback & there it was on national TV - number 1 jersey on his back. Our own Tim Moltzen. Trying to stop a try on his line without using his hands or body. Unbelievable.

I picked up on this last year when Inu scored the try that put us out of the finals, Moltzen came in on his knees, head turned, eyes shut and his hands out with our season on the line. He then did the same against the Doggies 2 weeks ago when he could have smothered the FG attempt by Inu but turned his head away and used his legs. He just doesnt have the balls.

The question must be asked: How has Moltzen gone backwards THIS MUCH within the space of a year?

He played a role in our run towards the semi's last year and was touted by many on here (including myself) to be our long term halfback when Lui left the club. Especially considering what he offered at 7 in '09 when we ended the year a genuine top 4 outfit and at the start of '10 before he tragically did his ACL.

It's almost like unless Marshall or Farah are firing, the back line are clueless and battle to score any points. Nobody shows initiative and steps up to relieve either one of them of responsibilities when they need it most. Marshall has assumed the workload of a 6 and 7 the whole year.

C'mon AHX you needed to see the number on the jersey

In defence of Tim Moltzen, the kick was perfectly placed. It was coming down directly to him, which leaves him flat footed and nowhere to go and puts him in 2 or 3 minds. The attackers have the advantage, because they have the run and leap on the ball. In Tim's mind, a) do I leap and get smashed out of the way by the runners? no chance of getting the ball. b) do I try and tackle the leapers? c) do I run backwards and then forwards to gain the same advantage as the attackers? no time. Instead of attacking Moltzen in this situation, I'm asking, where was the pressure on the kicker - all night? and where were his blockers?

yes, Happy, because i was in disbelief at the time - i thought it was Moltzen & i was hoping that it wasnt for some strange reason - and it was him - then my next thought went to Sheens. I have never in my 12 years at Wests Tigers seen an attempt like that - from Brett Hodgson to this…... Yes, Happy, i needed to see the number on the back - thats the evidence thats Judge Judy needs. Tim Sheens will just close his eyes. And that beer Mr. Happy was a Chimay beer. I prefer strong beers above 8% to drink less but enjoy more.

Maybe we should set up blockers so he can run the ball straight back at the defensive line?

How do you excuse the pathetic effort when he watched the ball bounce around, showed no urgency and meekly surrendered in the in goal.

I have never been a fan of Moltzen at the back but always hoped he would prove me wrong.

I now have doubts that he is a NRL standard player and we have re-signed the bum for another 3 years. That is a disgrace.

Sorry mate…...it didnt happen like that at all. He began on about the 12m mark....went back to the 10m line, ran forward for momentum and the contact occured almost on the 20m line....so he had almost 10m run up, which he did, and then he stopped, took his eyes off the ball...and decided to try look after himself

Word for word what at least 10 people said at the game last night.

Arguably Prince and Marshall combo was a reason why 2005 team was so good, however, IMHO Hodgson's role was of equal importance, as he was excellent support and ball player.
It is obvious to many that if you compress defence around Marshall or Farah there are no other options, both centers were ordinary, except Fulton (and underutilised BMM) we do not have any explosive 'hole runner', not to mention the most useless FB in NRL. :frowning:
I believe if we had FB like Bowen, Mini, Zilman, Coote etc., a willing runner, Marshall's and Farah's role would be much easier.
Hopefully it will be different with Tedesco (no pressure JT  ), but FB is the most critical position at Tigers, as we do not have any depth (hopefully Rudolph or Rowe will prove me wrong  ). I hope will never again come to Moltzen being even considered as FB :frowning:.

Go Tigers

Still pales in comparison to the game maybe 2 years ago vs Gold Coast (I think) when he let the ball bounce about 5 out, it went over his head and the opposition regathered to score.

In the past I have defended Moltzen because I rate him. I still do.

He has had a very ordinary year and that is putting it mildly. But I will say this. He isn't alone, and there are probably no more than 6 players in our whole squad who could hold their head up.

So he is in good company. He can't hide from it, the season was a write-off for him.

….And he isn't the first I'd let go if we had the opportunity.........

Hasn't been a good year for him or just about anybody in the team.
Even so against Melbourne he played better than everybody else in the backline bar the 2 wingers.
Also doubt if he has no ticker seeing he has played with a metal plate in his head for years courtesy of it being crushed in by somebodys knee during a game.
In fact I would say he has a lot more ticker than most of his detractors on here who would crap themselves if they had to say it to his face.

Its a fact….he chose self preservation (and got rightly smashed for going in half hearted)....chose that ahead of taking one for the team.

How can any of his team mates look at him and think, "He's got my back"....after the non 100% efforts he continues to produce.

He's a pimply kid, hardly think anyone other than a 12yo schoolgirl might crap emselves

I honestly thought Moltzen would've gotten better as the year wore on but sadly he hasn't. The experiment is a true blue failure and should be abandoned for the future. I wanted to give him a season there and then comment on things. The only positives have been that his his one on one defense HAS improved somewhat but that's really all. He's still after a year there, a massive liability under the high ball and his kick returns lack any impact. He should only be considered there as a back option to Tedesco who even with his lack of experience is a better option by a long way.

Big talk from behind a keyboard ,ink.
Hate to see what happens when the wonderkid Tedesco eventually drops a bomb or misses a tackle ….watch the forum turn on him overnight.

What do you suggest, we meet at Concord and contiue the discussion, invite Timmy over for his opinion?
