Its actually not. JAC is under contract for next year and they have told him he can go to Sydney **IF** they get a suitable replacement.

If they dont, JAC plays for the Storms next year. Nothing to sort out for Storms.

and if he signs for us for the year after we lose nothing....storm won't want some fringe first grader....they'll want keys to the castle

Well we do lose the use of JAC and opportunity to have a stronger playing roster for next year. Storms lose nothing, they have JAC next year and another year to purchase whoever they want to replace him.

question would be what would be worth giving up for him next year? They asked for talau and we said no....whispers of nofa and we said no.....For one year earlier what would the price that we would be willing to pay? And I know people are going to say reynolds/packer etc but let's be realistic.....

Good to hear, I am sure Nofa would have liked to hear the coach endorse him as well

It's not our problem to give the storm a player. JAC is being released. That is the end of the issue.

True, but the storm release is conditional to them finding a replacement, doesn't have to be swap, the player can come from anywhere

That's right. A suitable replacement can come from anywhere, not necessarily the team JAC signs with.

This is where the nrl need to get more pro- active with player movement. Why can't there be a multi team swap? Of course players would need to agree. It could suit all clubs involved if the sign a player in position of need.

Example:

JAC to tigers
Dwz to storm (seems on the outer at bulldogs)
Mbye/reynolds to bulldogs (foran and Blake green injured)

Again, players and salary would need to work out, but this would be a win for all clubs involved.

Thoughts?

How does them apples look

Before you have a go at me about the apples comment, it is a phrase from a movie

There is a cryptic clue there for you guys who can't guess the movie

I know the movie, but never understood the reference.

This phrase is often used as a way to mock or tease someone after gaining some kind of victory over them. It’s similar to the expression “stick that in your pipe and smoke it!”

It supposedly originated during the first World War, when the Allies’ anti-tank grenade was colloquially called a “toffee apple” because of its bulb-like appearance on a stick. The phrase was a taunt against the enemy.

Thank you, I have wondered about that for a long time.

No mention of Nofa. In fact Campbell Graham who I would argue is worse defensively could get the nod on the wing.

That will hurt his ego.

Don't get me wrong, I like Nofa but he's not as close to rep level as he seems to think he is. Love his confidence though.

Not good enough in the air and not good enough defensively, both things are very important in origin. If he keeps playing the way he is next season and beyond he’ll get the call up eventually

He’ll probably be in the extended squad somewhere but won’t get a run

Nofo also isn't a "young gun", he's 26 already, 27 at end of the year. Zac Lomax is about to turn 21. Ramien is 23, Staggs is 21, Paps is 22. Best is 19.

Exactly right. Doesn’t even need to involve us.

JAC tigers
DWZ storms
Staines/burton canterburys

I also saw a report today manly are interested in Luke Garner. We have back rowers and would free up some salary cap.

Release garner and offer Elijah Taylor a 12 month extension.

Tigers get JAC
Manly get Garner
Melbourne get a manly winger ("suitable replacement " for JAC.)

That's not the smart move, not with re-signing Taylor anyway. Better off going after Hetherington.
