Nofos try

Potter may not be building great attacking plays, but as someone else said on a different thread, he is certainly building great players. I've never rated Simona, but it seems he can't go a game without running the length of the field. Nofo's performances just speak for themselves. I haven't even mentioned Sue or Ava yet.

That was one of the most amazing tries from a kick I have ever seen. We have seen some incredible efforts from wingers in the past 10 years. That effort is in the top echelon.
Well done David, you are one of the very few reasons I will be excited about next season.

What a try the best i have ever seen thats why we made the right thing but not re signing Beau Ryan look at the gun wingers were seeing now we have a great future comming up im getting excited.

Can someone clarify this for me, how come it is not a penalty try? He was tackled in the air. Please explain.

Only in a try scoring situation I believe

Not just in a try-scoring situation:

Mid-airtackle 1\. (b) It is illegal to tackle an opposing player attempting to
field a kick whilst the player is in mid-air. The catcher
must have returned to the ground before being tackled.
(See Section 15.).Applies only when a player on the
non-kicking team catches the ball on the full.

The highlight of the game but after that it was the Bwaith and Benchy fumbling and no tackle show.

Here is video of the try, set to the classic commentary from Gus Gould calling the Ben Barba try in 2011.

Leaping Tiger Nofoaluma amazed by wonder try

Even David Nofoaluma was surprised by his acrobatic efforts in scoring arguably the try of the year on Monday night.

Chasing a cross-field bomb from Benji Marshall, the Wests Tigers winger outjumped opposing winger Jorge Taufua to catch the ball at Campbelltown Stadium. Taufua attempted to shoulder Nofoaluma out of play but he kept possession and stayed on the field, near cart-wheeling before placing the ball down for a spectacular try in the 12th minute of his team's 36-18 loss to Manly.

Nofoaluma was astonished by his try. ''I was surprised with how I scored,'' he said. ''It was pretty amazing. I'm pretty shocked. I watched the replay and I was shocked myself.

''I was surprised when I actually scored the try and I looked up and I realised I got the ball down. It was pretty good.

''I will always remember it. I was confident I scored. I had to watch the replay to make sure I did score. I was in shock and so were my teammates.''

Nofoaluma said his teammates had been giving him ''raps'' since the try. While the leap may have had the trademarks of a basketballer or high jumper, Nofoaluma said he barely dabbled in those sports. ''Shocking,'' Nofoaluma said of his high-jump skills. ''I wasn't as tall as everyone else. It's just one of those things that happened in the moment.

''Benji warned me that a kick was going to go on. As he got the ball I timed myself and I just leaped for it and hoped for the best. As I was coming down I was just doing the best I could to get it down.''

The 19-year-old has been a revelation on the flank for the Tigers this season.

The Campbelltown Warriors junior made his debut against South Sydney in round 10 this year and has scored seven tries in just nine games.

He scored a match-winning try in the 78th minute for the Tigers in their 22-20 win against North Queensland in his second appearance. ''I'm just trying my best to get as many tries as I can,'' Nofoaluma said. ''It's off the back of the boys' effort. I just try my best to get it over the line.''

Nofoaluma was on hand to help shave the heads of teammates Keith Galloway and Liam Fulton as part of the Tigers' support for the Wesley Mission's haircut for the homeless, which is on August 6\. To register, visit wesleymission.org.au

A better try than the "try of the century" where Inglis dove over the dead ball line and flicked it back to Gasnier to score in the Centenary Test.

5 best Tigers tries I can recall are;

Nofo's on Monday
Fitzhenry's try in 2005 where Benji stepped inside 6 Sharks players and hen did a no look pass to Patty Richards who passed on to Fitzy.
Patty Richards' 2005 GF try
Liam Fulton's juggling effort after a kick to put it under the posts (2007 I think)
Blake Ayshford's try against the Cowboys where Simona got the ball from kick and raced up field (2013)

Ayshford's try was against Melbourne. I prefer Ayshford's 2009 try against Parra when benji did his ridiculous flick around the back

Good try no doubt , but I prefer tries that might be simple but were crucial in big games

Dene Halataus barge over try in the 2005 Saints semi

Lotes try just before half time in the Canberra semi where he burns Josh Dugan big time

Gareth Ellis 1st Tigers try v Manly

Fitzys GF try , probably guaranteed us the win

Just a few that come instantly to mind
