To help settle a “ discussion”( now heated) between friends, can any old time Magpie supporters tell me whether racing journo Ken Callander played footy for the Magpies !

News to me - I can't ever recall him spoken of as a Magpie!

I’m with you but an old mate of mine reckons he played there. We have discussed this at great length( amongst a whole group of us) and no one can come up with any evidence to say he did. I say he is getting Ken Stonestreet and KC confused , anyway will see if anything else comes in , if not subject to be closed ! 👍🏻

Must say I liked KC as a racing head on TV and radio - you could feel his genuine love of the sport.

Having read Ken Callendar's book and Clouds of Dust Buckets Of Blood which lists every Magpies player I can assure you that neither mentions Ken playing for Wests.

Henson Park. Deliberately slipped to miss tackles many times when playing for Fort Street there. I was ahead of my time, Daine Laurie and Moses Mbye both adopted the deliberate slip style.

Having read Ken Callendar's book and Clouds of Dust Buckets Of Blood which lists every Magpies player I can assure you that neither mentions Ken playing for Wests.

I remember Ken telling a story about Packer.
Kerry ask him to put a net on for him, Ken told him that he had to do a live cross on WWOS soon.
Packer told him in no uncertain terms who was paying his wages, so he went to put the bet on.
As Chappel and Gibson crossed the the track no KC and Chappel said when the **** is Ken then straight to an add break it came back no Chappel.

One of my Grandsons is named Rocky, funny thing all of the young ones think of Sylvester Stallone while my mind goes straight to bullwinkle, Hey rocky watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
And my treat after school 3x Potato scollops for 10 cents once a week.
Walking home no parent pick up back in the day. Good times
