Nostalgia

I didn’t want to clog up the album thread, but my lament about the state of music made me think of something else. The old yellow Ticketek ticket. I used to save and collect them from every show I went too. I ended up losing them all, sadly. These days, you just click them on your phone, and if you want the hard copy, it’s just a print out of the actual purchase confirmation. Such a tragedy.
Back in the Day, I went to a lunchtime concert at Sydney Uni - The Bridge Theatre I think, Sebastian Hardy was playing. I was first in line and got raffle ticket number 1. At the end of the show, a roadie came on and said that they were giving away a copy of the band's latest album. He then read out the winning number - "Number 1" I jumped up and was at the stage ready to collect when he stuttered and said Oh I am supposed to pick a random number between 1 and 200! I said but you already said number 1 and with that the crowd all agreed! I got the album!

What made you 😡 angry about that @BZN ?
Didn’t your teacher look like that when you got the cane?
Unfortunately, I never had a teacher that looked anything like that.
If I did, I may well have been naughty 😈 on purpose, but who knows.
To this day I still have a hatred for schoolteachers that unnecessarily dished out the cane to some of the kids.
The cane never made me a better person, in fact all it achieved was leaving me with a hatred that I should never have had.
It's not hard to understand how some people go off the rails when they have been treated badly as a kid.
How many times do we read where something horrible has been done to someone, and the person that did that had a very unhappy childhood.

A timeless serenity in that suburbia pic.,

Can still jump on those buses at the Leichhardt bus museum 1st and 3rd Sundays.

All Ford's, Holden's and Val's.
I drove the 431 and 432 routes.
The 431 from Milsons Point Terminus to Glebe, used to have a packed bus nearly every time.
The 432 from M.P.T. to Balmain Wharf wasn't nearly as busy.

Is the bus museum in with Leichhardt Depot now?
I know there was a lot of spare land around the depot in the late 90's early 2000's.
I worked there a few times on loan from Ryde Depot.
The planes coming in to land at Mascot flew directly over the depot so low you could nearly see the faces in the windows.

Isn't it amazing how easily some sayings become an official part of our vocabulary.

What about Edgar Britt?.I used to know him and he always used to laugh about how his name has gone down in Aussie folklore,we often used to talk about horses (naturally) and he always dressed very dapper and wore a hat. He often talked about his time as a jockey in India and riding for the Windsors in England.Poor bloke died about 10-12 years ago and lived at Palm Beach. He was still punting till he died
Edit: He died 7 years ago my memory is getting a little faulty

Not at an all boys school( unless he was dressed up to go out on Saturday night ). 🤣
No fancy schools for me, I went to what was considered by teachers as the second worst school in the state. But we had a few good sorts though, a couple of PE teachers, one was super mega hot and did an aerobics class with only two boys in it, me and a mate, year 7. Also had this English teacher, wow, I was in year ten and English was the only subject I struggled in, (words suck, numbers rule), I asked her to come home with me for some 1on1 education, she politely declined saying something about her career? Mum got me a tutor at home for a while but she was a young hotty with DD’s she got punted after mum realised there wasn’t a lot of English happening. No jumping just rubbing but I know how to undo I bra with my eyes close by the time I was 15. After that I had to catch a bus and a train to a place for extra English tutoring, that sucked big time. Got the cane a bit at school but I asked for it instead of detentions, the pain is over in minutes.

Without disrespecting your comments BZN, I don’t think getting the cane has made anyone go off the rails.
Most people understood it, respected it and felt if you do the crime you take the punishment.
6 of the best was standard fare at my school but I don’t even think about it now, nor do I even think about getting some decent hidings from my old man.
Imo all part of a boy growing up, in my era.
