September 20th, 1975. A red-letter day for promising breeder David Hains, with his first ever double -- Kingston Key and Kingston Rose.
The latter would go on to become a rather handy broodmare.
This was also grand final day in Sydney, with Easts beating St George 38-nil.

Yes bets were 25c initially and if the horse was odds on it was possible if your bet won the TAB could legally pay 25c back and that happened on a few occasions. That was later changed so that the TAB would have to pay back a profit even if only 1c i think in the late 60's.

Back in the 50's and early 60's i saw kids get abused and even caned for using their left hand by elderly teachers who knew no better.
Talking about the cane in the 70's I witness this guy he was a real character cop six of the best, the maximum a teacher could inflict.

When it was over while the teacher was walking away, he followed him and started yanking on his coat, it was hilarious, but he was sent to the principal luckily though only copped a warning.

Yes, I had a few Sixers in my time. Secret was to show no reaction ( not always easy) coz I had a deputy principal who used to leave the floor in his delivery stride. He loved it !!
