Nostalgia

I attended my old cricket clubs ( Auburn Shires) 75th Anniversary a couple of months ago and Dennis Lillee was the guest speaker. He no longer does speaking engagements was persuaded to come out of retirement and came all the way from WA for the evening hosted by Shane Lee. A great night and some really fond memories of cricket in the 70's.
Now that's special, champion @diedpretty 👋

What years did you play for Auburn and did any team mates make it to first grade?

I was there mid 70's to early 80's. Tom and Mick Woods both played for Parramatta, or it may have been Cumberland back then. Mitchell Starc played for Berala which is a junior feeder club to Auburn. I think he played a few lower grade games for Auburn - but he was a wicket keeper as a junior when he played for the club.

That's a memory you never forget champion @Halbrowne61.
Bet you can still step forward with your head over the (imaginary) ball, and bring your bat and pad close together.
Just like Norm.
I think you and may have been coached by the same guy. Head over the ball etc etc. And make sure your gear was clean, and I quote “ if you can’t be a good cricketer at least look like one “.
Could pick up a bat and demonstrate like it was yesterday . Lol.

As an aside to the Commonwealth Games starting soon in Glasgow:

Before his career in Hollywood, Jason Statham spent 12 years as a member of the British national diving team.
He represented England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games held in Auckland, where he competed in the 1-meter, 3-meter, and 10-meter events.
