Did someone say Christmas in July?

Roy Wood, a founding member of the Electric Light Orchestra, wrote and produced "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" for his other band, Wizzard, in 1973, adding schoolchildren's voices from the Stockland Green Bilateral School First Year Choir to fill out the sound.

It only reached number 4 in the UK, losing the actual Christmas number one spot that year to Slade's "Merry Xmas Everybody."

Over fifty years later, most people couldn't tell you which song technically won that chart battle, yet both are still played every December regardless.
